Toddler boy trousers

DS is 2. When he was younger he had a gorgeous little pair of soft navy cotton trousers as a gift, with elasticated waist and cuffs on the ankles. They were neither bulky like joggers nor skin-tight like leggings. Smart, plain, comfortable, functional. But I haven't seen anything like them in the shops since. Has anyone seen the kind of thing I'm looking for?

I was eyeing the plain Polarn leggings, but I assume they're likely to be pretty tight. It's quite hard to tell with clothes online.

Maxomorra do lovely wee trousers like you describe, I have lots for DS.

Second vote for Maxomorra here.
I have bought a few pairs of their rib pants for my baby/toddler over the last couple of years .

SO blimmin comfy for toddlers. The design, with fold over waistband and cuffs means that they grow with your child and one pair lasts for ages.

I prefer the solid colours to the patterns, personally. I also don't think they are as 'harem' shaped as they look in some of the photos.

Thank you! Some of the Zara ones look really nice. Maxomorra too - I had to google them as I haven't come across them before. The rib pants look nice, if maybe a bit baggier than the ones DS had that we liked so much before. Could either of you who have them advise on how loose they really come up?

@Toomie the waistband on them is great! My DS is skinny but he’s also broad like his dad, so more ‘solid’ trousers can be weirdly tight on him.

AgentCooper · 10/09/2020 12:25

@TheLightGetsIn they definitely sit slimmer than they look lying flat. Not tight but not baggy or harem like if you know what I mean.

I got these for DS who is 18 months and he always looks really comfy in them.

H&M had something similar a few weeks ago I think plus quite a few other pairs of practical trousers that are neither leggings nor tracksuit bottoms. There are some great but comfy soft cord trousers which I love.

This is DS in a pair

The Zara bottoms are great OP. A nice fit without being skinny and definitely not baggy on. Its hard to find soft comfy toddler boy bottoms that aren’t baggy.

Lindex has some that sound like what you're looking for. Not as thick as joggers, not as tight as leggings, adjustable waist. www.lindex.com/uk/p/7964074-6959-black-trousers-in-slub-jersey

AfolMummy · 10/09/2020 12:36

Try Gap, they do nice elastic waisted soft trousers & comfortable clothing in general.

weebarra · 10/09/2020 12:38

Love maxomorra and they're not too baggy. You might also want to look at Duns, who are another scandi brand.

TheLightGetsIn · 10/09/2020 12:46

Thanks for all the great suggestions, and especially for the photo of your DS, @AgentCooper! On him they do look much more fitted than in the shop photos.

I will check some more of these suggestions out too.

When my DS was a toddler he had the most perfect pair of soft trousers from www.cambridgebaby.co.uk
