Are Timberland boots worth the money?

Just that, really. I've been searching for waterproof ankle/Chelsea boots that I can easily throw on and can handle both wet city pavements and soggy beaches or fields. Not wellies.

I like the classic Timberland 6-inch ones (though not throw-on as they have laces....), but they're not cheap! And I worry that after a few wears they'd look a bit scuffed and worn, in a bad way.

Anyone recommend?

I bought a pair in TK Maxx a few years ago and they are still looking good.

ItsLikeSputnik · 06/09/2020 19:09

They are brilliant boots and last for years and years. I had a pair for over ten years that stayed pretty decent looking and waterproof - they just lost their warmth eventually. I’ve replaced them with a new pair which I expect to last equally as long. I wouldn’t be without them in winter.

Redbirds · 06/09/2020 19:10

I love mine and they have lasted years; although I bought them at the Outlet Shop so not as expensive.

Gannetseatfish · 06/09/2020 21:30

I’m on my second pair of “ugg” style timberland boots and they are absolutely brilliant. Really warm, comfortable, hard wearing and waterproof. Well worth the money if you can get a discount code or their sales are good.

WhamRap · 06/09/2020 21:34

They are the most comfy boots I've ever had. Didn't even need a wearing in period, just comfy from the start. I also bought the care stuff and mine still look new (had them for over a year).

Gurufloof · 06/09/2020 21:35

Same as pp.
I only ever buy in the sales. My waterproof ones are still waterproof 2 years later, my purple not waterproof ones can be left to dry naturally, brush off the dried mud and they look like new.

LunaLoveFood · 06/09/2020 21:36

Yes absolutely worth the money. They last forever and are so comfy. However what size are you? Online their junior sizes go up to an adult size 5 but are half the price of adult shoes so check whether the style you want also come in junior sizes.

ChinookPilotsGoVertical · 06/09/2020 21:37

Timberland boots are great - I've got 2 pairs. I clean them with a suede brush & Timpsons can resole them.

Blondefancy · 06/09/2020 21:38

I own 2 pairs currently and they truly are the most amazing boots!! They can with stand any amount of mud/dirt if you wanted to go walking in them (can scrub anything right off!)
But then they can be used to look stylish with a nice pair of jeans, plus they last for yeeeeears!!

glasshalfsomething · 06/09/2020 21:39

Mines are 12 years old this year and still my favorite footwear

Ragwort · 06/09/2020 21:42

Yes ... mine have finally given up, had them reheeled & resoled a few times, they lasted 20 years and I wore them a lot.

RooKangaroo · 06/09/2020 22:16

Wow. Serious endorsements, thanks everyone. I'm now very tempted. Will keep an eye out for codes or outlets so I don't have to pay RRP.

@LunaLoveFood - I wish! I'm a 6.5/7, unfortunately, but thanks for the heads up.

Yes Smile buy them!
DP got me a pair as a surprise and I was very Hmm because they’re really not my style. I was wrong! They’re comfy, warm and waterproof. 5 years on, they’re still going strong!

alangarneristerrifying · 06/09/2020 22:23

Yes, 100x yes! I asked a similar question last year on here, and the verdict was they were amazing but fairly heavy. I love heavy shoes, so I went for it, and they are absolutely the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn. Even in the January sales they were expensive, but so worth it.

Lucked · 06/09/2020 22:23

Yes but mine took some serious breaking in, on a par with DMs

BigcatLittlecat · 06/09/2020 22:24

My boots are 18 years old! They look tired but so so comfy!!!

MaverickDanger · 06/09/2020 22:26

I bought the London Square ones last year - so Timberland but not the “original” style.

I wore them probably every other day to walk 4 miles to work for about 5 months, and they still look brand new.

I have really awkward shaped feet that always blister but these were so comfortable straight away. I would say that they are slightly on the narrow side, which is probably why they fit me so well.

Deux · 06/09/2020 22:42

Oh yes and then yes some more. I bought a pair 10 years ago and wore them everyday in the winter. They’re still waterproof but looking a bit ropey. But I’ll be taking them to Timpson based on what @ChinookPilotsGoVertical said.

I got a new pair last year.

I do find they come up a bit smaller than other brands if you want to wear thick socks then maybe go up a half size. That’s for the 4 inch ones.

LonelyBones · 08/09/2020 00:58

Try Office Offcuts for a discounted pair, its the outlet for Office shoes. It mostly display or returns, so there is a description of the fault. But most times, its a small blemish or crease!

CokeyCola · 08/09/2020 01:51

Mine have always lost waterproofing after a winter or two. Surprised to read other endorsements.

LaPampa · 08/09/2020 10:00

Depends which style I think. I had a pair which were great until they couldn’t be re-soled and I had to get rid of them.

Babyshine2020 · 08/09/2020 10:05

Never paid full price but I have 3 pairs + a pair of walking boots and I love them. A little narrow and cause blisters while you break them in (I can't wear thick socks to help as they're so bloody warm!) but 110% worth it. I treated myself to a pair over lockdown
