Keep growing it, or cut it out? Fringe dilemmas!

OK, so I usually cut my own fringe and can make a pretty decent job of it. However, I've spent lockdown growing it out and it still isn't long enough to tuck behind my ears, but gets in my eyes or over my glasses, if I don't tie it up / use an alice band all the time. The rest of my hair seems to have grown miles, so it's not true when they say a fringe seems to grow faster!

I like the convenience of a fringe that skims my spex so it doesn't get in the way and I don't feel I have to 'dress it up' every day. However, hairdresser seems to think a longer fringe suits better as my hair is so long that a short fringe doesn't really blend in with the rest of it.

In addition, I have quite a 'straight' severe face - long nose and features iyswim.

Do I persevere or just give in and cut it back in again? I have tried to grow it out a few times and usually give up way before now, so this is the longest it's been for years.

My fringe took a year to grow out.
I used a kirby grip to hold it out of my eyes.

Keep going. With a long face, wear it with a side parting.

OP you sound like me. I bought mini crocodile hair clips and they've kept my fringe out of my face throughout lockdown. Almost tucjable over my ears now though. Finally

A fringe seems to grow fast because the length is too short, just right or annoying. The rest of the head will grow at the same rate but less noticeably.

I have exactly the sort of face you describe ("I have quite a 'straight' severe face - long nose and features") and I hate the way I look without a fringe - the longest I've ever tried to grow one out without cracking is about 3 months. It sounds to me as if you probably suit one best, so don't let the hairdresser talk you out of having it cut shorter if you want to. Having said that, it's easier to grow it longer and then have it cut than the other way round, so if you want to experiment and are already halfway there, you could hang on a bit longer just in case you like the result. You can always change your mind at any time.

I've just caved in and cut mine but I always cut it to the bridge if my nose so not too short and I can still sweep it to the side if so wished. Have you tried twisting it and pining it back so that it's out of your eyes, at least until it's a bit longer? 😊

I have a long face and I’m old. Tried to grow my fringe out this time last year and looked hideous about the 3 month mark. Never again

Mine had just reached below my nose.. and I cut it tonight... badly !!!
I do this all the time... think, oh I'll grow it out and then get fed up. I also have a long face and I do think I look a bit witchy without a fringe although I like to imagine myself as elegant

My fringe grew very long during lockdown, and I wasn't sure I wanted to keep it. My hairdresser now cuts a very light and narrow fringe just so i can see properly and the bits that were the outer fringe are left longer, this looks very good on me and as I've kept the rest of my hair longer, with a few layers at the bottom the whole look is very balanced.
