Help - need a complete make up overhaul

I'm really pale with cool tones but have red blotchy cheeks (which for some reason are much worse if I don't sleep enough) and dark under eye area
I wear a thick foundation (dermacol), very pale jeffrey star concealer, bare minerals original powder foundation (lightly to finish) then a powder highlighter and all the eye stuff on top of that and lipstick.

I feel as I'm getting older, it's all just too much. I want to look glowy and not so heavy but how do I get the coverage without wearing such heavy make up?

So far I am considering the silvery coloured iconic drops, meteorites pearls, a glowy foundation which still covers well without looking too heavy, (does that exist?) a cream blush or bronzer instead of loads of powder.

Can anyone help? I feel a bit out of touch.

I paid for a MAC make over early this year, you can then redeem the cost on product. It was great and really updated my look, she wrote it all out so I could follow it at home.

I use a facial oil then a dewy tinted moisturizer - concealer over areas that need coverage - cream highlighter and coral blusher - lip liner- tinted lip balm and nude/brown eyeshadow and eyebrow pencil and badgal bang mascara

I really rate Bobbi brown, but I think you need to see someone in person not buy stuff online thag you’ve never tried.

Laura Mercier tinted moisturiser, a Nars blusher, touché eclait or a benefit highlighter

Realitea · 05/09/2020 20:30

@OnlyFoolsnMothers I don't think that would cover my blotchy redness on my cheeks though. I wish I could just wear that as a base!

It cc cream is great, full coverage but not heavy at all

Rms beauty “uncover-up” is a great concealer. I use it to cover redness and my dark circles. Most days I don’t use any foundation over it, just some blush or bronzer. I use their luminizer highlighter for glow.
The Ordinary has a great serum foundation which is lovely and light but still full coverage.
Kosas makes cream blush, Ilia does a multi-stick.
Maybe just drop either the powder or the foundation?

I’d also recommend trying Bobbi Brown. They are very helpful and will try out make up for you (presumably still with Covid,
I haven’t been recently) and are good for natural looks.

I'd recommend a face SPF such as ultra sun followed by Charlotte tilbury Light Wonder foundation which is fantastic for a youthful glow. Heavily conceal UNDERNEATH the foundation. Then a pretty cream eyeshadow in a flattering shade to your eye colour and Nars Orgasm blush. Sorted :-) oh and make sure you fill your eyebrows - Benefit are best for this. Bobbi brown sand wash pink is a nice universally flattering lipstick shade

stepmotherofone · 05/09/2020 23:43

Seconding the IT Cosmetics CC cream which somehow covers redness whilst remaining light

Ok I'm really pale with cool toned skin
Illamasqua have a £1 sample on their site of their new beyond foundation so that's probably worth a go

Glowy foundation with coverage - Estée Lauder futurist in porcelain, nars sheer glow (more matte than the EL and you probably want shade Oslo), revolution conceal and hydrate

Set only the areas you need to with powder, avoid the rest. I do my T zone and a bit on my chin

Charlotte tilbury flawless filter is good as a highlight or mix with foundation
If you want a blinding highlight then the nip fab drops, or go for something like Laura mercier matte radiance 01 which is a highlight despite its name!

Concealer - use a tiny dab under eyes, and have a look at the becca under eye brightener, means you need less concealer

Powder - to be honest I use a standard powder in the areas I need it and the foundation gives enough glow

Blush - use a powder if you already have it but don't powder your cheeks first if that makes sense

This is me wearing the becca undereye stuff and EL futurist

I have similar skin tone to you. I use Urban Decay NAKED concealer in the lightest shade. I also rate the Daniel Sandler liquid blush in passion that you can buy from beauty and the boutique. This brightens up your whole face
I would agree re above on the Becca under eye colour corrector but it can be hard to find in stock.

Wow @QueenPaws that’s the look I want! Thanks everyone for your amazing suggestions!
