Supportive trainers but a little bit cooler than my second running pair.

I broke a bone in my ankle at the end of April. It has healed now but I have found that I need to wear trainers rather than sandals when walking (and I’ve been walking a lot more recently).

I have flat feet and so my running trainers help with that. Currently using my old trainers for walking and they’re not the greatest colour and also a bit “busy”. DD said they weren’t the most stylish and while I will never reach the heights of a nearly 15 year old, I wouldn’t mind something a bit plainer at least, but supportive as well.

Converse and Rocket dogs are both not supportive enough (and converse also too narrow for my feet now).

I have arthritis so wear trainers lots for support - I wear plain black or black and white nike flex (asos, sports direct sell them. They are not trendy or anything but I prefer plain ones.

I've just 'treated' myself to some white Adidas Stella McCartney ones. They have an ankle support in them but they look a bit like the Stan smith style

I love my Nike Vapormax in grey. Very comfortable - I walk miles every day in them, and they look really cool IMO.
They don't feel as flat as Superga and Converse, and are more supportive.
Only downside is that they are expensive and the mesh is delicate, so will likely wear out amd get dirty quicker than other trainers.

I love my Nike AirMax. They’re like pillows and so light and supportive.

Go to a running shop and see what they suggest.
Brands that I would suggest are skechers and fitflops, but MN considers them frumpy.

Thank you everyone - will have a look in the outlet shop and see what I can find :)

@MirandaWest, I fractured my fibula in June. Good luck with the shoe buying. Are you going back to running?

MooseBeTimeForSummer · 07/09/2020 15:14

Henriette by Dansko.

@spanglemum I think I probably haven't been too clear in my post Blush - I have been running for the past couple of months. My break was a small chip on one of my ankle bones which has been fine for a while now.

I've had gait analysis for my new trainers that I run in, but am wanting something more stylish than my old running trainers (which I also had gait analysis for) for general walking :)
