Trainers for ‘smart casual’ office dress code

ProseccoSupernova · 05/09/2020 06:45

Help me find some please! Dress code says ‘lifestyle’ trainers are ok so I take that to mean something fairly sleek with minimal branding. I find converse uncomfy but what could work? I’d ideally like something not plain bright white as find it too stark next to jeans

I have plain black Nike trainers which I wear for work.

Vans? They’re comfier than converse.

I wear black Adidas gazelles for this.

I have Carvela ones, white leather with a bit of gold detailing. Usually wear for work with black skinny jeans and a print top, sometimes blazer. Definitely lifestyle as wouldn’t dream of wearing them for sport!

LearnedResponse · 05/09/2020 11:38

Superga? Fitflop plain silver trainers?
Hush/Mint Velvet/Geox/Gabor/M&S/Jigsaw/Carvela/Ted Baker/John Lewis own brand.

If you go to the John Lewis website and look for women’s trainers and then filter by Fashion rather than Sport then you’ll get a huge selection.

Mint Velvet trainers are great for work.

I have a pair of navy with red and white trim from Hotter a few years ago, as I wear them a lot they're beginning to get a bit tatty and rather fancy these: www.hotter.com/gb/en/gravity-shoes-grvtys?selectedColour=Soft%20Gold

I like past season Italian trainers for this. They are beautifully made and very comfortable, and past seasons are more affordable (akin to Stan Smiths) than the £250 per pair of the current season.

XingMing · 05/09/2020 21:11

Should probably say that I have five pairs from one brand, and I buy them online only. The last they use fits my feet perfectly. Not suggesting they would work for every foot.

MrsVeryTired · 05/09/2020 21:20

Where do you get those @XingMing?

I find most European brands do leather (or similar) fashion non-sports trainers, some are more stylish than others.

I like these from Rieker and these by Gabor.

MrsVeryTired · 05/09/2020 21:22

I also can't wear Converse or anything similar so these types of trainers are fine, bit more support/shape to the soles.

XingMing · 05/09/2020 21:26

It's a brand called Andia Fora. Some of the styles are too much for me.

XingMing · 05/09/2020 21:32

But I have black and gold on a black sole; navy and silver on a white sole; pony, grey and silver on a translucent sole, khaki, brown and copper on neutral, and black velvet on white. And my favourites are mini tight grey nubuck ankle boots on matched grey-- and they are nearly dead through so much wear.

XingMing · 05/09/2020 21:44

I buy them on Yoox.com mainly, but the supply is sporadic.

TheStigReturns · 05/09/2020 21:49

I wear black on black Vans. Nicely coordinate with black uniform polo shirt & jumper, add pop of colour with my trouser choice.

TheStigReturns · 05/09/2020 21:54

Old Skool Pro is apparently the style www.vans.com/shop/all-black/old-skool-pro-zd41oj#hero=3

WildWaterSwimmer · 05/09/2020 22:03

I wear plain black converse which look good for work casual style

MrsVeryTired · 06/09/2020 00:08

But OP said she can't wear Converse type.
