Hair help please, lob with curls...

Hi there,

Is it possible to have a hair treatment, dare I say 'perm' ...(is there an updated version?) to have a hair style like the one in the photo, without having to curl hair with tongs/straighteners.

Wanting more 'wash and go' with hair that has a natural wave, but left without curling or straightening is frizzy.

Thanks for your advice.

Not much help to you but those are lovely. I can do this with tongs, but not was and go. I'd be interested in alternatives too.

JMAngel1 · 02/09/2020 13:17

An old fashioned demi wave?

MikeUniformMike · 02/09/2020 13:35

Yes, a friend of mine is of South-East Asian origin and has it done. Her hair is longer than a lob.

She's the only person I know who gets her hair permed.

hopeishere · 02/09/2020 14:03

Don't forget one of the reasons those look so lovely is the colour too.

AdelaidePlace · 02/09/2020 14:44

Mmm,Hope, you are right about the colour. It really shows the shape of the curls/waves. My hair doesn't keep any curls and is often quite frizzy. Nothing as lovely as these!

No expert but I doubt you'll achieve that with a perm, they're all styled with wands

stealthbanana · 02/09/2020 15:59

Following with interest as my hair is a bit like this when it is freshly washed/drying but then just goes a bit scraggly

Is there a way of making those sorts of curls hold from wet hair that doesn’t involve applying heat?

AdelaidePlace · 02/09/2020 16:45

I was really hoping for a hairdresser to advise.
So if I have to curl my hair myself, what would I use...perhaps another thread...

I can achieve that with my Dyson Airwrap but it's a bit hit and miss and my hair doesn't hold a curl either.
I have also considered a perm so am following with interest.

AdelaidePlace · 02/09/2020 22:21

Still hoping for more advice, especially from a hairdresser...perhaps I should have flagged that up in the title.

Not a hairdresser, but I've had short, long and lob length thick fizzy hair, I usually style it like your pictures. Would recommend a wand over tongs. I have GHD ones but but bayliss will do a good wand. You'll need a medium sized barrel.

Section hair off into inch size chunks starting from bottom
Curl each piece, alternating direction you wrap round the barrel
Spritz a bit of hair spray on that layer before moving up
Your hair will be tight ringlets at this point but carry on!
When all poodled up, take a wide tooth comb or your fingers and slowly gently comb through the curls, they'll loosen off so they look similar to the pics. Spray hair spray or work some defining serum through it.
Mine always looks better on day 2!
Also wouldn't recommend doing on freshly washed hair, will be too clean and curls will fall out

I'd also go on YouTube for wand tutorials

Thanks Ginfilled ...your advise is really helpful and I know I can do that...think I'm just too lazy to be bothered😳😂.

I've really enjoyed during lockdown and working at home, being able to tie my hair up. I've been able to jump in the shower and not worry about my hair, just was and leave. I've not applied any heat since March and it is such a relief.

I was hoping ( probably much to much optimism) for a treatment answer, wash and leave to glorious curls and waves....🙏🏽🤞🤔☺️

@AdelaidePlace if you do find a way come back and let me know! Would like a break from the wand lol!

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 03/09/2020 14:01

Look for the you tube videos showing how to twist damp hair onto a dressing gown belt and tie up overnight giving lovely curls / waves the next day

AdelaidePlace · 03/09/2020 14:18

@Ginfilledcats ...maybe we should start a joint 😂 new thread, targeting hairdressers...if only.

Nooooo, 😂....stepaway, I really am far too lazy, but need to look professionally 'sleek' without the (any!😂) effort.....

Thanks anyway.
