Microblading

Thinking of having this done and looking some advice please wise style and beauty people

I have them tinted and waxed ideally every 8 weeks but the shape isn't great as they are thin ish, odd shaped, the inside top corner of the left is missing and I have very fine hair and they are sort of a dull blackish grey ish colour (I am mid brunette odd grey hair).

Would I still need them waxing to maintain a shape? Would they look fake? Can I ask to see the final shape they would be before the lady does them. The salon is the normal salon and i would book in for a wax. tint and consult at the same time to see if she could show me the finished shape - would that be ok?

Also when I get them done will they look awful for a few weeks? Or just very dark until the heal?

I had mine done just over a year ago and still so pleased with them.

You definitely need to make sure you trust the person doing them, make sure you see pictures of their work beforehand.

They will measure and draw the shape on before starting so you would be able to make sure you are happy with the shape.
They will be dark and will scab for a week or 2 while they are healing. Once healed they should look natural.

I have mine waxed and tinted every 6-8 weeks to help keep them looking neat.

cherrypiepie · 31/08/2020 22:39

@Feelingpoorlysick thanks that sounds positive! Glad you like them. On that basis I will have a look at a fe more places -although she has done my regular brows before and is a reputable place.

I don't like it much as I have several friends whose eyebrows are now fading and they look distinctly pink ish now.

I had my eyebrows laminated and then tinted and threaded and wow what a game changer! I'm 48 so they were unkempt and sparse. I can hardly believe they are my brows!Grin

schmalex · 01/09/2020 08:59

If they're looking pink, they need retouching.
I love mine! It does hurt a lot and they are very dark until they heal, but not so that anyone notices (apart from you).

Skibideebapbapbap · 01/09/2020 09:04

I love mine, had them well over a year and they aren't pink at all. As pp said Make sure you check out the persons work before hand and also think about the look you want, you can get the hair stroke style or you can get the shaded type or a combination of the two, I have a combination of the two and I love them, they look so natural.

Skibideebapbapbap · 01/09/2020 09:06

And yes they draw on the shape and show you the colour they will use before you agree to anything, any reputable person will be very thorough

LivingoffCoffee · 01/09/2020 13:36

How often do they need to be retouched? I'm really tempted, but have also seen a few pink/purple eyebrows around...

cherrypiepie · 01/09/2020 18:17

Thanks all booking a consult!

Just wanted to add - I had mine done at a supposedly reputable permanent makeup clinic in London. Paid £600, my skin "never took" the pigment and my eyebrows never actually looked any better than before.
I have since been told by a few beauty therapists who offer microblading that my eyebrows should have been better regardless of skin type and it was the way the therapist did the treatment.
Just to reiterate this was a highly regarded clinic that I trusted as I had even seen celebrities had their eyebrows done there.

Thecobwebsarewinning · 01/09/2020 18:31

I love mine. Best £300 I’ve spent for a long time. I was practically eyebrow bald and now I have beautiful naturally shaped arches.

yomommasmomma · 01/09/2020 18:36

I had a similar experience had mine done twice and it didn't take and eyebrows went back to exactly as before within 3 weeks. Does anyone know of it might work better with another/better therapist or does it just not work on some people?

GreyHare · 01/09/2020 19:42

I had mine done as my eyebrow fell out and love them, mine don't stay crisp brow strokes because I have greasy skin but the fact that I have a good shape means I can quickly touch up with a pencil, I didn't think it hurt, but the sound is bizarre.

Find someone who has been doing it for years rather than months as it seems every beauty therapist is now offering it, my lady is much more expensive than some but clearly is so much better, make sure the work you look at is actually theirs as unscrupulous people will pass off others work as their own.

If you are situation in the Hampshire/Wiltshire/Dorset area I can highly recommend someone.

cherrypiepie · 01/09/2020 20:47

@Thecobwebsarewinning they look amazing! Do they look ok without any other make up on?

@GreyHare that is all really helpful thank you. I'm up north unfortunately!

ScarMatty · 01/09/2020 20:51

@cherrypiepie

Where abouts up North are you?

I'm also up north and had them done a year ago. I'm getting them re-done in a few weeks as I have oily skin so they don't stay perfect for as long as other people

The first week is annoying as they go a variety of colours before calming down and going the right colour and you can't get them wet, but it's great!

LadyShmuck · 01/09/2020 21:00

I had mine done at a clinic in Norton, Stockton and they are amazing. I prefer them spmu tattooed rather than microbladed, I've had both from the same place and I think the spmu tattoo lasts longer for me and hurts less too. They were about £350, but it's a tattoo on your face so it's worth paying more for the right person.

Thecobwebsarewinning · 01/09/2020 21:06

@cherrypiepie. Thank you! Yes, I am happy to go out without makeup now and at nearly 60 that’s pretty good going. I had them topped up just before lockdown and I’m so glad I did particularly since we’ve had to start wearing masks!

Anordinarymum · 01/09/2020 23:29

I had microblading bought for me for my 60th birthday. The lady who did it was amazing. It cost £350.

What I did not realise was you have to go for top ups and if you leave it for longer then you have to pay full price again and i can't really afford the upkeep.

I use the JML microblading pen if I am going out anywhere, and in the interim I dye the brows.

If I could afford it I would have the blading done always but until it comes down in price I will give it a miss

janetmendoza · 01/09/2020 23:48

Had mine done and love them. I still have to pluck as they grow sparsely but all over the place, but the blading gives me a shape to aim for. Been done about ten months now and look as good as ever.

marmiteloversunite · 02/09/2020 08:06

Had mine done before chemo and they were great but oh my goodness it hurt!! Felt like someone was scraping into my skull and I'm quite good with pain. Take some painkillers before you go.

Hirewiredays · 02/09/2020 14:23

@marmiteloversunite no one tells you about the scraping. You could fear and feel it deep within but no pain no gain I guess! 🤣

LivingoffCoffee · 02/09/2020 14:45

@Anordinarymum how often are you meant to go for top ups?

espressoontap · 02/09/2020 14:47

My sister does it and has done mine. She's incredible. I thoroughly recommend getting it done.
