Going grey help

SleepIsAThingOfThePast · 31/08/2020 19:56

Hi. I am now resound to the fact that I am going grey.

During lockdown I have looked more and more like a badger. I am naturally a dark brown and have been home dying trying to go lighter. But within a week I am grey at the roots and the whispy fine hair is grey again.

I was thinking of asking a hair dresser to put some silver/grey foils through in the hopes that I can disguise it better and for longer. Does anyone know if this is possible? or if there is a better way to deal with it. Thanks.

Are you in Facebook? There's a lovely group called Grombre UK/EU and everyone is at different stages of growing out dye

I don't want to sound flippant but how about just living with it going grey?

I haven't got that much at the moment but I'm very dark and that's what I am planning, I've watched my mum & aunt's constantly dyeing their hair or ending up with regrowth stripes after what seems like 5 minutes. I honestly can not be bothered with that amount of work/hassle.

I know a few women who are doing the same, I
do think there's a shift in society and that women aren't expected to always be young to be beautiful now.

I’m doing this, drama, and it’s strangely freeing! I felt really self conscious at first (am in my 30s) but am totally used to it now and can’t see myself ever being arsed with the faff of dying again. I totally get why it might not appeal to everyone but personally speaking, it’s one less thing to worry about!

Yes I have the same feeling @ParcelFarce it is freeing. So far I've only got a couple of strands but I'm actually proud of them. My mum seems to think being going grey/ getting old is a curse but it's just a fact and much better than the alternative!

I'm 9 months in from dark brown box dye.
I used root sprays at first( until it looked like it was intended re growth)
Now it's fine and I just go with it

I did the pixie cut to grow out the dye a few years back. I knew I'd cave in otherwise. Hairdresser put in some grey/silver highlights to break up the line and then I just grew/cut til it was gone then grew it back to shoulder length.

I have never, ever regretted being off the dye treadmill. I feel liberated. Not in a feminist way.. just liberated from worrying about my roots
