I don’t understand skincare- help!!

So this is going to seem strange but I don’t understand skincare or what your supposed to do Blush I’ve looked at threads on here but it’s like another language, I can’t seem to get my head around It. If anyone could help I would appreciate it!!

So ‘normal’ people-
Wash face with (water?)
Cleanse (is that to remove extra dirt?)
Tone (to tighten pores?)
Moisturiser - to soften skin
Sunscreen (or does that go under the moisturiser?)
Have I missed anything out?

If your getting/got wrinkles, when do you add that cream...after cleansing but before toning?)

Also, is all of the above done morning and night? Or once a day?

I know this sounds stupid, but I’m getting fine lines around my eyes and think it’s about time I asked instead of looking into it myself once again and not understanding.

Thank you to anyone who answers

I don't understand either. I wash my face in the shower in the morning, bit of day moisturiser and then a cleanser on a pad at night and nighttime moisturiser. I though this was extravagant before I read some of the threads on here. Clearly I am a skin care savage!

What sort of skin have you got OP? Dry? Oily? Combination? Normal? Sensitive?

Cleansing- any cheap cleanser that your skin gets on with. Rub all over face, remove with flannel wrung out in warm water. Your skin type will indicate whether you will prefer a cleansing balm, milk, cream or oil

Moisturiser- again, cheap is good. Depends on your skin type

SPF - should be separate to your moisturiser, and at least factor 30. Use quite a lot - a third of a teaspoon to do face and neck

Tell us more and we can give you more detailed advice

Okay now I'm confused...

Why does SPF have to be separate to your moisturiser?

Lottapianos · 31/08/2020 21:19

Well it doesn't strictly, but you have to be sure that you're using enough of it. If you're using a SPF 30 moisturiser for example, but only 2 little dots of it on your whole face, then you wont have anywhere near SPF 30 protection
