Vit C serum

Hi everyone.
I'm looking to step up my vit c usage. At the moment I'm using the Superdrug 10% serum stuff. Seems ok....but hasn't really done anything for me.
Any recommendations?

I was going to post a similar question!

I’ve got The Ordinary vit c 30% suspension, but the texture is awful, really gritty so my makeup doesn’t sit well on top of it. I’ve also tried Oskia vitamin c ampoules but it’s so so oily I look sweaty as hell. Plus they are so expensive.

I’m going to try the Sunday Riley CEO oil next, as that has excellent reviews. But will watch on here for recs.

I didn’t get on with The Ordinary one. Liked the Gentle Elephant vitamin C and am currently this one from Medik8 which I really like. No breakouts from it and my skin looks more awake and clear www.medik8.com/superc30.html

Thanks!

I use Garden of Wisdom 23% vit C with ferulic.

catinboots2 · 31/08/2020 15:32

I like the la Roche posay one but it's quite spenny

agapanthus1979 · 31/08/2020 16:33

Great- a couple more to look at!
I like La Roche stuff @catinboots2 so might think about that....
So many options!!!!

Following with interest. I’ve used a couple mentioned here and also get that ‘gritty’ effect.

LoeliaPonsonby · 31/08/2020 17:19

I really rate the Eucerin Vitamin C/hyrulonic serum. One of the few products I’ve bought again when it ran out.

Lunaballoon · 31/08/2020 17:21

What is Vitamin C serum supposed to actually do? I’ve read it can fade pigmentation and “brighten” the skin but the Indeed Labs serum from Boots that I’ve been using has had no visible effect.

Anothernamebitesthedust · 31/08/2020 17:52

I’ve just got the beauty pie super healthy skin vit c and loving it. The ordinary one brought me out in an eczema-like reaction. Also tried the nip and fab and not that impressed.

eurochick · 31/08/2020 17:54

I have one from The Ordinary - in a cream rather than serum. I only wear it at night though because of the texture.

Ghost9525 · 31/08/2020 17:56

I used the Sunday Riley ceo but didn’t see any difference I’m going to try something like Superdrug’s own next so I’m not wasting any more money

damnthatanxiety · 31/08/2020 17:59

I have honestly found that the VitC that have been phenominal for my skin have all been pricey. The Ordinary et all have been totally underwhelming. Sunday Riley, Murad, Natura Bisse and others at this price point have provided noticeable results. Reduced pigmentation, reduced fine lines and a glow. I wouldn't be without. I think they are better formulated with molecules that can actually penetrate as oppose to just sit on the surface.

BillieEilish · 31/08/2020 17:59

I agree euro. I love The Ordinary, it works wonders (it is gritty but so what?)
I thought you were supposed to wear it at night to get the effects, so it doesn't matter.

I wear buffet during the day. No Vit C during the day.

MilkshakeandFries · 31/08/2020 18:04

I've actually found the Superdrug one better than others.

The Ordinary one and the Beauty Pie one are both in silicone which doesn't do my skin much good I don't think.

I've just ordered The Inkey List one from Cult Beauty which is a good price and has really good reviews.

doadeer · 31/08/2020 18:07

I like the Medik8 one, Oskia capsules (these are the best), Sunday Riley CEO, La Roche Posay.

I always use vit c in the morning as I use Retinol at night

agapanthus1979 · 31/08/2020 18:08

That's interesting @MilkshakeandFries....perhaps I'll give it a bit longer.

The Timeless one is the best cheaper one I've tried. I like Skinceuticals, but not enough to pay the extra £££££.

botemp · 31/08/2020 18:18

Another for Timeless ce ferulic. I've been using vitamin c serums for over 10 years, and this is the one I've been repeat buying for over a year (maybe longer). Effective, cosmetically elegant and exactly the ingredients you want in a good formulation. It's the best I've found that doesn't cost £££ (Skinceuticals) and tbh it's like splitting hairs between the two.

TheSeedsOfADream · 31/08/2020 18:21

I'm finishing off the GOW one mentioned above. Won't repurchase but I have stockpiled my favourite which is Vichy Liftactiv.
Apparently lots of vitC hyped products are next to useless. The "best" kind is Ascorbic Acid.
I tried TO and like every other TO product I've tried, chucked it in the bin.

Flymetothesun · 31/08/2020 19:20

I use Medik8, I like it but it's hard to tell if it's made any difference.

Minesnotahighhorse · 31/08/2020 20:01

Drunk Elephant Vit C serum is amazing, it leaves my dry sensitive skin hydrated and glowing. Only downside is the price, it is very expensive. I did try the Timeless one in an attempt to economise as it was raved about on here but it did nothing for me. I ended up leaving half the bottle and buying the DE again. I justified it as I've been prioritising skincare over new clothes since lockdown - you wear your skin every day!!
