How to get amazing condition hair?

Last had my hair dyed back in February and lockdown has given me the opportunity to grow it out. The ends are quite dry and I've given them a trim. My natural colour is mousey but I thought if it's in amazing condition it will still look nice. What should I be doing?! I currently tie it back in a random hair bobble every day which I'm not sure is actually good for hair? Tips and tricks anyone?!

Need more info about your hair type.

I've just got back to John Frieda stuff. I'm using the featherlight shampoo and conditioner, and Secret Agent finishing cream. Really impressed with how much they've improved my hair so far. And get a proper cut - I got mine done the other day for the first time since January, and it's made a huge difference to the way it shines/falls.

Hey Remus - there's a thread in your honour just started!

I also like John Freida stuff. For the price it’s very decent and often on a deal.

Don’t comb your hair when wet, it’s snaps easier. Always use a heat protector.

Mine was waist length until a few weeks ago and in pretty good shape but I spent an actual fortune on deep conditioner treatments. Shorter is, needless to say, much easier!

Thanks, I'veSeen. How funny! Grin

My hair type is wavy with the odd quite curly bit. Thick. Dry at the ends. Not particularly greasy roots.

Hair suppliments, argan oil on ends, coconut oil on scalp for growth, wash 2 to 3 times a week, leave conditionner at least 3 minutes before you rinse off, scalp massage once a day, use a wide toothed comb to brush, no heat or absolute minimum, rice water or coconut milk and masks every week (recipes online, reviews on youtube).

Plait it at night as well and sleep on silk ot saten pillows.

Olaplex! You can just use 3, but I bit the bullet and got the range (it’s horrendously expensive and I did nearly cry a bit paying for it).

It’s changed my hair. I tried everything - curly girl, no poo, no silicones/sulphites, washing less, oils in hair overnight, regular cuts etc etc. This is the only thing that’s made it glorious.

Roselilly36 · 30/08/2020 21:09

I use Toni & Guy leave-in conditioner, it’s a cream rather than a spray. Makes my hair shiny & has helped the condition. I have tried other products, but always go back to this one.

Bizzywater · 30/08/2020 21:11

Cutting out sulphates and silicones has worked wonders for my dry wavy hair. Not pure curly girl method, but a low maintenance version

I get keratin blow outs (straightening) 2x a year in a salon and it changed my hair and my life. I don’t use product and drying take such a short time. Also no sulphates.

cbt944 · 31/08/2020 00:14

If you're tying it back every day you could eventually cause traction alopecia - ie lose hair. So that's a thought.

I use nuxe oil and I have to say it has really helped the smoothness and appearance of my hair. It is pricey though. It feels gorgeous on my skin too, it's my treat to myself!
