Clothes for an evening meal

I need some ideas of what to wear for a meal out, particularly flat shoes as I am a trainer or flat boots person really and don’t want to wear heels. So if you were going for a meal out in the evening what would you typically wear? I normally only eat out with my Son earlier in the day so am in jeans and t shirt.

I currently look so frumpy, I’m about 2.5 stone overweight and stuck in a rut. I feel so uncomfortable in anything remotely different from my usual style. I love jumpsuits for example but feel like everyone would be talking about me if I wore one.

I like labels like Hush and admire Sarah Clark’s (Little Spree) style.

I also have enormous calves but a lot of midi dresses end below them. I recently bought a black dress from & other stories and it ends just below the widest pint of my calves so it's actually really a flattering length.

@DarkDarkNight I’m the same. When a normal weight I still have wider hips but now legs arms and tum. And as @goose1964 says a midi is quite flattering especially darker colours. I wore trousers with loose tops for years and just realised the actually make you look bigger than an item more fitted. Good luck and hope you find something really nice that you can wear again
