If Dyson Airwrap didn’t work, what will?

I seem to be in a small percentage of hair types that is not compatible with the Dyson Airwrap, and have decided to return it.

I was wondering if anyone else has also tried the Airwrap and had similar results (pic attached after using the smoothing brushes), and if so, have you had luck with any other hairdryer or straightening product?

I feel I can’t really rely on any reviews or YouTube videos as they all had amazing results with the Dyson airwrap, so am a bit lost.

My hair is thick, on the fine side of medium, quite wavy, frizzy, Irish.

I have the Steampod straighteners which do work well, but my hairdryer has broken so need another dryer and would love an all-in-one styling tool if that would speed things up and give a sleek blow dry look.

Any ideas are welcome.

I used to have Brazilian blow drys and they helped...to an extent. I don’t have them now as my hair is short but they did help with smoothing and frizz reduction. It definitely took less time to style. The only note of caution is that they seemed to get less effective with each subsequent one, though I did have them at a couple of different salons so maybe they used a different system.

Thank you, I am researching Brazilian blow dries. The thought of 4.5 hours sitting in a salon is slightly off-putting. But I am getting desperate!

My hair looks a bit similar to yours, although I like my Airwrap! Before the airwrap I had success with the Revlon round drying brush, I found it actually gripped my hair so I could pull it taught. I find with most round brushes (including the one on the airwrap) my hair doesn't 'stick' in the bristles well but the Revlon actually gripped it. The reason I switched to the Dyson was because I felt the Revlon was a bit damaging.

I also find if I blow dry my hair then add some oil when it's still warm and twist it into a tight bun for an hour helps stop some of the frizz but gives a nice wave.

Thank you. I was so disappointed with the Airwrap, was so excited to get it! Glad it works for you.

I was also considering the Babyliss big hair but think that would probably tangle, I will give the Revlon a go.

The first one I had took a while but I’ve never been there 4.5 hours, Kerastraight is quicker and you can wash your hair straight away (you have to wait three days with most of them). None of them straighten, for that you need the Yuko system, but it did calm my frizz down and made it easier and quicker to dry/style.

Your hair looks curly to me , have you tried adding a curl cream and diffusing?

FrizzQueen · 29/08/2020 15:28

Yes I have tried diffusing or air drying, and various creams and mousses. It has a lot of volume so I can only do it that way when it’s really long, if that makes sense. It looks ok curly sometimes, but is always a bit fuzzy. I did curly girl method for about 6 months but didn’t like the unwashed feeling and didn’t get any results.

Sigh. I am so lazy and just want an easy solution to looking half-groomed! Thanks for your ideas.
