Boob or Bust bra fit

Just tried the Boob or Bust bra fit calculator online with the four measurements (tight, snug, standing, leaning).

Has anyone tried these? How did you find it?

I can't work out if I'm being really simple or not. I've gone from a 32DD to a recommended 32 F (or FF, if I give myself a fraction more space in the leaning measurement. Not currently on my period but I can swell quite dramatically at that time of the month)

I'm also getting a message saying my tight fit (31) should be smaller if my dress size is a UK 8. Apparently it should be about 28. They keep asking if I'm measuring correctly. UK dress sizes are so variable I can be an 8 or a 10, but definitely not more than that!

I am quite busty on a small frame. And I do think I've gone up a size, as all my underwired bras are cutting into the sides of my breasts. Stilll . . . this much? DD to potentially FF seems like such a big jump.

They have a Facebook group for advice but I'm not on FB, so no good to me.

I’ve done it and when it gave me the recommended size I thought there was absolutely no way it could possibly be right but thought I would give it a try. It was spot on! I’ve gone from wearing a 40E, which I knew was wrong but was too lazy to sort out, to now wearing a 36H and it is SO much comfier

The cup size is all to do with how many inches difference there is between the underbust and overbust. Also they recommend to do the ‘scoop and swoop’ as apparently so many women are wearing the wrong size bra that it can push the breast tissue round under the arms, so the measurements they do take all the extra tissue into account

Put one of your current 32 bras on backwards, hooks under boobs. How does it fit? Is it tight enough or can you pull it more than an inch or 2?

Pinkflipflop85 · 27/08/2020 14:04

My measurement was spot on.

I went from 34B to 32DD. I bought a new bra fully expecting to have to send it back but ended up getting rid of all my old ones instead

Slowturtle · 27/08/2020 16:31

I too went from 32DD to 32F. Bought a bra on the new size fully expecting to return it and it fit perfectly. Couldn't believe it!

contactusdeletus · 27/08/2020 23:02

Wow, okay! Sounds like it might be worth me at least trying a 32F. I just can't believe it. At what point are they going to stop growing? I don't get measured every six months as they recommend, it's more like every few years, but I seem to jump hugely with no pregnancy or weight gain to account for it. Over the last ten years I've jumped from 32B to 32DD to now a 32F? Please, can we stop now Shock

Can anyone recommend bras for this size range? I prefer a non-wired and non-padded if possible, at least for day to day wear. My old size could be awkward but this would be whole new territory for me. Any recommendations much appreciated Grin

Check Bravissimo and Brastop.

Slowturtle · 28/08/2020 19:06

Try Bravissimo, they do a huge range. Online ordering and returns is also really easy.

VickyBHF · 28/08/2020 19:09

OP I was sure I was a 34c but Born said 32 E and sure enough. I now have several Gossard ones from bravissimo that give the girls a lovely lift (and make my tummy look slimmer).

32F is ever so slightly too big, but 32E much too small. The underwire is digging into the side of my boob again, and I'm swelling out over the top of the cups. With the 32F though, the cups are gaping annoyingly at the top, unless I tighten the straps - at which point the band begins to slant upwards at the back.

Is going down to a 30 back a good idea? 32 bands feel snug on me as it is - I worry I'll be cutting myself in half if I go down any further! Or will the increased cup size compensate for that? I'm not sure how it all works to be honest.

Have you tried different shape bras?

contactusdeletus · 05/09/2020 23:08

I only really wear t shirt or full coverage bras.

I'm not a fan of deep plunge or balcony bras. I feel too exposed in them and if my boobs swell hormonally I end up with overspill. The dreaded quad boob! I'm currently wearing a sort of wireless bralette thing I got for lounge wear, because it's the only thing that won't skewer me like a kebab. But it has hardly any support at all.

It does sound as if 30FF in the same style might work. If the back band rides up when you tighten the straps, it's definitely too loose.

Once there's enough space in the cups, the band will be able to sit properly against your ribs without your boobs pushing against it to find an exit!

KatharinaRosalie · 06/09/2020 21:20

style might still be an issue. I can't get full cup t-shirt bras to sit right after kids, just not enough volume. Maybe a balcony bra with more coverage? If the cup fits, they're not too revealing.
