Tear Trough fillers?

Some folk rave about them but others think they're a waste of time.
I'm middle aged with sunken, purple hollows that no amount of concealer or corrector can hide.
If you've had it done would you repeat?
And any recommendations as to where to go in Bristol, London or SW. It's definitely a specialist job I think.

@OneForTheRoadThen you should read The Tweakments Guide by Alice Hart Davies which discusses every type of facial treatment you can imagine. It's a great book. She says fillers don't stretch the skin as they are used purely for loss of volume. So they prop the skin up from inside to the pre wrinkled volume if that makes sense. Maybe some dodgy practitioners would overfill the under eye areas and this may stretch the skin I would imagine but any reputable clinician wouldn't I presume. Certainly my under eyes aren't bulging at the moment. I would say they are filled to what I remember them being like in my twenties.

@trumpisaflump thanks for the book recommendation, I'll check it out. That's good to know about the tear trough fillers. It's possible that she meant cheek fillers as I was asking about my marionette lines. I think there must be something in it as it does go some way to explaining that 'pillow face' look that some celebrities get.

I think I will have to get tear trough fillers at the very least. I've lost an awful lot of weight this year and my face has somewhat collapsed. I feel like I look so much older and tbh it's quite depressing after all my hard work. I'm only 40!

@OneForTheRoadThen yes I'm thin too which I don't think helps my face. I used to get my marionette lines filled but I think now it's recommended you get your cheeks filled instead. This will lift the face and hopefully help marionette lines. To be honest most of the filler I've had has been really subtle and I can really only notice it when I've put two photos of my face side by side. I'm always nervous before I get it done but remember if you don't like it it can be injected with Hylase which reverses it. Unlike Botox.

For this in London, look up perfect eyes ltd (she is on Insta). I know a few people that have used her and recommend her.
I am tempted to give it a go and if lockdown hadn't happened I probably would have given it a go. I might do in the future....

I had mine done about 2 years ago now. I’m so glad I did - I’ve only had to have one top up since and it’s made such a difference and I look a thousand times less tired! The woman who did them said they last longer in the tear troughs than on other parts of the face.

autumnnalleaves · 14/09/2020 09:02

I'm still thinking about this treatment.
If anyone has any recommendations for Wiltshire, Bristol or Dorset I'd appreciate it.
Alice Hart Davis's website has a couple, she seems reliable.

I had mine done for the first time a week and a half ago, by a surgeon using a cannula. It wasn't a nice procedure and I was puffy and a little bruised in the days after, but it looks excellent and has made a real difference.

I've had cheek filler before and I think perhaps it accentuates the hollowness under your eyes. Face looks more balanced.

badfurday · 14/09/2020 17:50

I keep thinking about this but worried about bruising/swelling. I'm due to start a new job at the start of October and hate the thought of looking bruised etc! But like the idea of looking fresh and awake! Had Botox and didn't bruise so hoping I won't. Still not sure.

BlackSwan · 14/09/2020 19:18

Hmm... if you could go this week or early next week, I'd go for it. The bruising was minimal. The swelling too - but I noticed it.
Buy some arnica tablets!

autumnnalleaves · 14/09/2020 19:25

@BlackSwan, were the side effects only noticeable to you or could your friends and family see? Did makeup cover it?

BlackSwan · 14/09/2020 19:51

I covered it with makeup - I didn't tell my husband I had it done and he didn't mention anything! We had friends over 3 [EEK - he just appeared over my shoulder on the sofa... nearly sprung!!]... days after I had it done and my best friend said I looked fine.

badfurday · 14/09/2020 22:12

Ohh if make up covers it well enough I'm very tempted. Just had Botox so can't have it until next week at the earliest.

Beachlovingirl · 14/09/2020 23:06

I head this done a few years ago and the bruising was really bad. And afterwards I ended up with eye bags that I didn’t have before and looked more tired. I did have it dissolved and looked instantly younger. It was a place I have been going to for years and still go to with excellent results on everything but this. I wouldn’t have it again. Maybe things have moved on though as a lot of the posters on this thread didn’t had anything like the negative effects I had. We’re all different and all that Smile

BlackSwan · 15/09/2020 04:28

That’s awful Beach. I was warned there can be serious bruising in a small percentage of cases - for sure we are all different.

GlamGiraffe · 15/09/2020 07:04

I wanted them due to the darkness in the corners under my eyes. I was told they would make no difference. The darkness is actually due to the visibility of tiny capillaries under my skin where it is so fine. From my 'research' I was convinced they were the solution. I'm glad I went to a good doctor as it would have been wasted money. Its definitelyxeorth askingcl about this.

autumnnalleaves · 15/09/2020 07:44

Thanks so much for the comments, if I'm feeling brave I'll post a photo. I do have dark circles as well as the hollows.
