Actually (sort of) at peace with my hair!

May have spoken too soon but I have grown it to shoulder length and am enjoying having waves again. My hair is certainly not as thick as it once was but I do love the waves. Only complaint is it gets in my face! I have put hair clips in, but roague (how do you spell that word!) strands get caught on my face or across my eyes!

No good using mousse or hairspray as my hair gets oily/dirty quickly with product!

Anyway, for once I wanted not to whinge about something!

Glad to hear it! I'm in the same situation, with longer hair and waves after lockdown. I have been entertaining myself and procrastinating in the morning by putting in curlers to look like an Alfred Hitchcock heroine.

My hair also looks oily if I use a lot of product. If you want to try it again, I recommend using it only at the ends and quite sparingly. If you are looking to spend a shocking amount of money, I highly recommend "Bumble and Bumble" (available at Boots). There are a couple of spray-on products that work for me.

This one (a primer) is very light, but calms my hair down a bit:

Use this one very sparingly; it adds a lot of shine and if you use the right amount (i.e., not much) it will feel light and more manageable:

This one is my favourite. It's usually all I use before drying. Makes it calmer.

Good luck!

My hair is now the longest it has been since university, and I am loving it!

It curls on my shoulders and I can make little plaits (not to go out in public with, just for my private amusement...).

I am saying there is no need to add the risk of close contact with the hairdresser, but I think it is more just enjoying having fiddleablewith hair again.

In September I'll have it cut back. To quote Melanie Griffiths in Working Girl - ' If you wanna get taken seriously, you gotta have serious hair'.

I'm not sure where you work, but I work where women who don't have "serious" hair are often either creeped on or not taken seriously. The exception is if they have blatantly out-there hair. That is increasingly seen as an enviable statement of confidence. I am prodding you to try it.

@Antst
I wrote that very much tongue in cheek.
My hair has never been serious! Or at least it probably sometimes has the potential to be serious, but I prioritise time in bed in the morning over hair styling, so I always just wash and go (it dries during my work commute). If it is shorter, it is still curly and wayward, but in a more controlled fashion. My face doesn't really suit tied back hair, which would be the obvious compromise, but I might give it a go again.

I've had short hair for decades, and over lock-down decided to let it do its thing... I have a jaw-length bob now, and am going to just let it grow. I did start looking a bit like Anne Wintour (lol) so I've cut the fridge shorter, more 90's, and I'm loving it. It feels like I've got somebody else's hair! It's become thicker, and less poker-straight. I'm only washing and blow drying it once a week, then I work a bit of Tigi Rockaholic paste into it, so it's a little messy, and.. wow. Can't wait 'til I get to that 'shoulder length' stage. Will stock up on the bumble and bumble reccs...
