Botox... is it time?

Am 58.

I have decent skin, considering my stress levels and have always looked after it. Face and body.

We’re visiting our newborn grandchild and lots of photos taken and I’m shocked by my forehead lines and “11s” and generally just looking knackered!

I Have a NuFace Mini which I use 5 days a week and have had 18 months. I’ve always used sunscreen and hat/sun glasses. This morning, I’m thinking... is it time for Botox?

I always said I’d NEVER do anything invasive but fuck-a-duck my ageing is happening all at once?

Are there newer better devices out there?

Help appreciated 😐

Try it, if you don’t like it it’ll wear off and you don’t have to keep it up! Just go to someone reputable who knows what they’re doing! I’m only in my 30’s but I get my 11 lines done, I was permanently frowning and I hated how it made my face look. The Botox just smooths the lines out and makes me look fresher. I’m not frozen.

I’m afraid it really is the only way, luckily it’s not permanent so if you don’t like it, it does wear off

I’m starting to get a very tiny line on my forehead - so start of the 11 and I definitely have crows feet so I do want it

I’m 43

I had my first treatment just before my 50th, am now ramping up to 62. I usually have 1 or 2 treatments a year, depending on how stressed I am, because that really does show in your face.
Will also admit to small amounts of filler in the corners of my mouth, but only twice in the past 9 years.
Please go to a qualified doctor, who specialises in aesthetics and achieving a natural/fresh look. There are too many charlatans around.
As pp said, less is more and a good practitioner will want to see you again after about 3 weeks to make sure you are happy/tweak if needed.

How much can I expect to pay?

Will need to research a good practitioner. Some dentists do it now, I think.

Take a look on the tweakments guide. I’ve not done it yet but have been researching!

Costs depend on where you stay. I pay £150 for my 11s, crows feet and under eye wrinkles but I'm in Scotland so will be cheaper. Expect to pay double that in London I presume. I would rather spend my money on Botox than expensive skincare as Botox completely works! It's awesome.

MabelMoo23 · 26/08/2020 20:27

I’m in the Midlands and it’s approx £150 for one area and £200 for 2 areas so I would guess mid price between Scotland and London

Have found a very well reviewed dentist over the border in North Wales (I’m South Cheshire). Might pluck up the courage.

I've had it done in the past, and intending to do it again soon. There's nothing to it. My first attempt left me looking like Spock, but that was my own fault for not doing research properly.

It'll wear off if you don't like it.

I pay just under £100 for 1 area, £160 for 2 with a very experienced registered nurse (NW). I get very small amounts in 11s and crows feet and the results are excellent. I expect you may have a long wait if you decide to make an appointment as Botox has only just been allowed to start up again and appointments have therefore been rescheduled since the start of lockdown. I had an appointment in April booked which obviously was cancelled and have been rescheduled now for this Saturday
