Has anyone used the Revlon or Babyliss hair dryer brushes?

Can you tell me what they're like?
I've a voucher for Amazon from my birthday and have always been intrigued by them and thinking of getting one.

Are they easy enough to use?
Are the results good? - and importantly - does the blow dry last?

I have long hair and struggle with it looking flat and less than great a day after washing and straightening and would really like to avoid having to use heat on it everyday to make it look nice.

I'm swayed a bit towards the Revlon but would love opinions and reviews or any suggestions if there's something better out there.

I looked at these for ages & just before lockdown bought a fake version off an ad on Facebook. No brand name or anything but by looking at it it's made in the same factory as the babyliss one without the sticker.
I had very long hair & it worked lovely, loads of volume & a nice curl at the bottom after a bit of practice.
I now have a shoulder length bob & it's even better, hardly need to run over the tops with the straightener afterwards.

I've bought the babyliss twice and didn't really like it. I sold the first one then a couple of years later got tempted by a really good deal and only kept that a week!

The Revlon one however I love. my hair needs to be mostly dry to use it to be honest it's not much good as a hairdryer per se with my thick hair but it does style it lovely with nearly dry hair

I have had the Babyliss one for years. It’s honestly really good - IF you have the time to spare to use it! It definitely takes a lot longer than using a normal hairdryer! My hair is poker straight and shoulder length and it gives my hair lovely volume and lift.

So yes, would definitely recommend as it’s very easy to use (after about 5 minutes of fiddling about at the start!) and the blow dry lasts well!

I've previously had the Babyliss one. It gave lots of volume, and its definitely easier to use than a hairdryer and brush but I found the finish wasn't as smooth and shiny as I would have hoped.

Myothercarisalsoshit · 26/08/2020 13:48

I've had two of the Babyliss ones. Really simple to use and they give a lovely bounce and curl. The only downside i've found is that the hair gets wrapped around the barrel after a while and stops the barrel turning.

I’ve used the Revlon one in various guises for decades (medium length bob). It’s great for adding volume at the roots and shaping the ends. I don’t even own a hairdryer anymore.

I’m guessing it might be a bit time consuming to dry hair if you have lovely thick long hair (compared with using a hair dryer) but that’s not a problem I have sadly!

Coffeepot72 · 26/08/2020 17:21

I prefer a rotating brush so the Babyliss gets my vote. I blast my hair dry with a hairdryer first, then finish it off with the babyliss. I’ve tried a non rotating styler, like the Revlon, and it was ok but I got a better finish with a rotating brush.

I had the Babyliss one. Because the air blasts out in al directions you don’t get the same finish as a hairdryer pointing downwards. Although it added volume and curled the ends under, overall my hair was fluffy/frizzy. Gave it away in the end.

Harencha · 27/08/2020 22:17

I love both and I will replace them both if they break. Revlon is my daily goto as its easier to use. It gives me amazing volume and I can shape the ends slightly. Finish is smooth.

Babyliss gives good volume too but is not a smooth finish, leaves a frizz and can cause kinks around the root. It's superior for getting curly, wavy bouncy hair though.

When I am doing my hair and making an effort, I dry with revlon then shape ends with Babyliss! That gives my favourite finish!

3catsandcounting · 29/08/2020 15:55

I've had the Babylis for years, but recently treated myself to a Hot Tools brush, which is pretty much the same as the Revlon one. It knicks spots off the Babylis. I paid £70 for it from my hairdresser, who swears by hers.
What a difference it's made! My hair is thick and course but only just above shoulder length, and I can dry it from wet in under 10 mins.
It really smooths it and has an oval shaped barrel which grabs the hair well and doesn't curl it under too much. I love it.

3catsandcounting · 29/08/2020 15:56

knocks, not knicks 🙄

openupmyeagereyes · 01/09/2020 11:13

The Revlon one step is a deal of the day on Amazon today - £39.99.

Oh dear, I just ordered one. Will report back …

Ohdeariedear · 01/09/2020 15:58

Yes. I got one to test off here! I like it, I don’t find it ‘curls’ as such but it definitely gives a bit of bounce and less frizz to my shoulder length hair.

What I’ve found the best is the babyliss hot straightening brush, it’s like a paddle brush but it’s heated. My hair is more swooshy and swishy (technical term🤣) using that and I get a couple of days out of it. Combined with olaplex shampoo, my hair is transformed!

Coffeepot72 · 01/09/2020 16:06

@Ohdeariedear do you mean the Babyliss Diamond brush, which is the Babyliss version of the GHD glide? I’ve also got that, I like it but need a touch more volume.

DeRigueurMortis · 01/09/2020 16:10

I have the babyliss.

I like it.

I hand long wavy hair and it does a good job of taming into a straight style with volume and curl at the ends.

I don't ever fully dry my hair with it though - would take ages.

So I use my hairdryer to get it 90% dry and then switch to the brush. Same result just faster.

Ohdeariedear · 01/09/2020 16:17

@overweightcat yes, that’s what I was talking about. I have the big hair as well and it’s great on longer hair but mine is a bit shorter now than it used to be and sometimes the volume is just too much.

Coffeepot72 · 01/09/2020 16:20

My quest in life is to only need a hair dryer plus ONE other appliance, which really should be all I need for straight shoulder length hair!

My Babyliss Big Hair is great for smoothing but can make me a touch too bouffant, so I then need the straighteners.

Straighteners alone don’t give me a very smooth finish.

A non rotating hot air styler is quite good but the finish is not as smooth as when I use the Babyliss Big Hair.

And as I just commented, a heated straightening brush doesn’t give quite enough volume.

Which is why I crossed my fingers and just ordered the Revlon One Step.

My poor husband can’t understand why I need all these gadgets …
