Help me find a waterproof coat?

I'm now going back to work, my job requires me to get train and walk to work so I'm in need of a stylish waterproof coat/jacket. I don't want a rain mac, I want something with a little but not too much padding. Can anyone help me find one? Under £80 ideally. Thanks!

What do you mean by stylish? There's the very practical, plain black/navy and goes with anything end of the spectrum right through to more edgy Scandi shapes.

Land's End

I quite like this but it's definitely the former!

get657 · 25/08/2020 07:55

Thanks @hammeringinmyhead I meant with some colour or colours on it! That one is too long for me as I'm only 5ft 2 so would rather a shorter coat. I have just found this one that looks nice: www.joules.com/Women/Clothing/Coast/Waterproof-Coat?size=14&id=206200|ANTGOLD|14

Really recommend Seasalt: www.seasaltcornwall.co.uk/waterproof-jackets-raincoats/all-rain

Uniqlo do a good range. If you sign up to their newsletter you'll get £10 off and there's cashback available via Quidco

Also recommend seasalt. The shorter styles work on a shortie too (lagoon jacket for example) and some have poppers to pull the sleeves in at the wrist which helps shorten them! X

I get my coats from Joules usually, they are pretty good waterproof wise.

TheClitterati · 25/08/2020 10:19

This will be my third winter for my seasalt waterproof coat. Still looks impeccable

emma6776 · 25/08/2020 21:20

Helly Hansen do great raincoats - I have the Kirkwall and it’s great.

beguilingeyes · 26/08/2020 08:41

Another vote for Seasalt. all sorts of styles and they are properly waterproof.

Plump82 · 26/08/2020 09:25

I just bought the reversible Seasalt coat and its great. Also 5ft 2 and a good length. Legs will be kept dry. Its very roomy so go down a size. I actually got it from Outdoor & Country as its reduced to £75.
It has no padding but there's room for a nice cosy jumper under it or a fleece when it gets colder.

I bought this one from Joules last year - I'm not generally a joules fan but wanted something very waterproof for the school run that didn't have a pattern and the Seasalt ones didn't fit me very well, and this has been brilliant. And I love the furry lining, it's very cosy.

They don't seem to have it this year but maybe they have something similar.

FaffingForEngland · 26/08/2020 13:27

There's another make that's always recommended on these threads, but I can't remember it and I'd driving me bloody mad! Is it a Scandinavian make? Not very helpful I know Grin

mrssmiling · 26/08/2020 13:42

FafffingforEngland...Is it Didriksons?
Another vote for Seasalt coats here - this will be the third year I’ve worn my Janelle and it still looks great. Properly waterproof and cosy - worth every penny!

DontBeShelfish · 26/08/2020 13:55

Do Seasalt extend to the more comfortably build lady? Cough I'm a size 18.

LesLavandes · 26/08/2020 14:10

Petit Bateau

igivein · 26/08/2020 14:30

@DontBeShelfish they go up to a 26, so I think you'll be ok Grin

CarrieMoonbeams · 26/08/2020 14:37

I've got that Joules Coast one OP, and one with a lovely soft teddy fleece lining too (still the Coast range - don't know if they still do that one). They're both absolutely terrific, I'm out walking my dogs in all weathers and have stayed completely dry.

I'm only 5'1" and the length's great on me.

Excellent, thank you! 😃

ItsmineAllmine · 26/08/2020 18:57

Are you definitely after fully waterproof? I feel that narrows down your choices massively! I've just boight this coat from M&S

I love this www.hellyhansen.com/en_gb/w-welsey-ii-trench-53247 if you can break the budget, or wait until there’s a sale!

Gherkinbee · 31/08/2020 22:37

I got a recommendation of Lighthouse from another thread a while ago, and have just ordered this one www.lighthouseclothing.co.uk/collections/womens-raincoats-jackets/products/alanna-padded-warm-raincoat-grey-print

LightOfAThousandStars · 01/09/2020 12:59

Another recommendation for the Joules Coast, love mine and they have so many colours to choose from.
