Cracked heels

grey12 · 21/08/2020 10:18

I always have hard heels!.... I like walking barefoot in the house so maybe that's why?

Recently I tried using a gentle foot file every other day, sort of. I was hoping it would improve the rough skin and it did a little bit.

NOW my heels went from rough to cracked!!! Confused what should I do? I obviously need help!

Thanks

F mine are the same this year no matter how much I moisturise

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 21/08/2020 10:19

Flexitol Heel balm. Use it morning and evening, wear socks and it should be sorted within days. It’s second to none.

ICJump · 21/08/2020 10:21

The only thing thats helped is wearing shoes. I prefer being bare foot but my heels just crack.

Crimbles · 21/08/2020 10:27

Try this by Soap and Glory, it's transformed my feet www.boots.com/soap-and-glory-heel-genius-125ml-10086272

Flexitol heel balm is the best thing over the counter I think. If you want something free, I always find cracked heels respond amazingly well to oils. Even massaging in some olive oil before bed for a week usually sorts mine out easily and for nothing. If I were buying a product though, definitely the Flexitol balm.

Body Shop’s “Hemp Hard Working Foot Protector” is glorious. Very hydrating.

I use a metal foot file thing in the shower daily and then flexitol after when the skin is still damp. I find you do need to keep it up though. Old fashioned Vaseline works well too.

Lottapianos · 21/08/2020 10:36

Another vote for Flexitol. Got to use it every single day though. And a basic foot file, on dry skin, once or twice a week

I get really bad heels (and big toes) as I have slightly flat feet. Even barefoot there are areas of my feet that are 'toughening' that wouldn't normally do so.

I'd advise getting some inserts for your shoes if you think you could be flat footed, as well as the heel balms already mentioned.

1 cup of vinegar with 1 cup of mouthwash. Soak feet for minimum 10 mins. Get one of those heel scraper/scalpel things like this and very carefully scrape the hard skin off.

Moisturize, I found O-Keefes Healthy feet cream fab.

I tried these recently and noticed an improvement even after wearing a pair for about three hours (watching TV). I was worried that my heels would be oily or something when I took them off, but they weren't at all. Might be worth a try.

Keep filing, and piling on foot moisturiser. Personally, I like the soap and glory one mentioned above.

Fluffycloudland77 · 21/08/2020 11:34

Doublebase gel. One pump per foot twice a day if you can. It doesn’t need to be rubbed in.

OpposableThumbs2 · 21/08/2020 11:37

Lansinoh works brilliantly on cracked heels. Best if you do it a night and wear socks to bed.

Woodendollymix · 21/08/2020 11:41

CCS Swedish foot cream, absolutely wonderful.

Mostly use it on a night time with socks on after soaking feet in soapy water then using a foot file (Tesco one works fine) then cream.

Like you I prefer bare/socks in the house and this works.

Lexilooo · 21/08/2020 11:51

Aldi K cream for feet is brilliant for cracked heels and it is in stock at the moment

cherrypiepie · 22/08/2020 06:52

I second the aldi foot cream.

You could try a few things- as I have!

My favourite is the scholl velvet smooth cordless wet and dry foot file. I have had one years now. Must the the cordless rechargeable one as the battery one is no where near as effective. Buy a job lot of new heads from amazon or eBay.

Or you could try a footner foot peel. Have a google first. It works over a week and the skin gradually peels off and soaking your feet each day helps.

After both these is still had cracks and the The callous remover blade sorted These out but so easy to cut your self so best not use if you have lots of hard skin. I speak from painful memory and it didn't heal easily. As I used it just too 'touch up' the really resisitant bits.

Daily cream is the only solution but I forget.

silentpool · 22/08/2020 13:11

I've read that persistent hard skin on the heels can be a fungal infection, so that might help if none of the usual creams work.
