Please can you recommend a hat for me (photo)

Name changed as have attached a picture.

I suffer from hair loss to the point where you can easily see my scalp. I usually hide this with scalp concealer and keratin hair fibres but I want to give my scalp a rest day or two each week (not to mention it's expensive!).

Could anyone recommend a hat style I could wear round the house, going shopping etc that's going to look like I'm wearing it because I want to as opposed to hiding a bad hair day or waiting for my hair to grow back? I'm mid-40s and my everyday outfit usually consist of jeans with a t-shirt or jumper/hoodie.

Any advice or other tips appreciated.

Baker boy hat or maybe a beret. I like to wear beanies too but they can be a bit too casual for some.

I would also start wearing your parting to one side and a side sweeping fringe as it gives a bit of volume and the illusion of fullness on the top of your head too. Smile

Thank you CatBatCat, beanies don't sit right on my head at all but a baker boy hat might be an option.

Can I still wear a parting to one side if the rest of my hair isn't parted that way too?

You could try a scarf.

Would a scarf look a bit odd unless I dressed up to go with it?

I wear scarves and bandanas all the time! Much more casual than a hat, and you’ll be less warm indoors.

HatHelpPlease · 18/08/2020 15:34

@LunaNorth would you mind giving me a couple of examples? I had a google but could only really find religious/cultural or very elegant headscarves. Sorry I have shit imagination or style when it comes to fashion!

What about a little light straw trilby? John Lewis have some, with some of them reduced in the sale.

@HatHelpPlease

Sure - this kind of thing. You can buy loads of square scarves in different patterns and colours, and there are tons of ideas online of how to tie them.

Would a thick hairband give enough coverage? www.mintvelvet.co.uk/product/Black-Knotted-Headband/28888
