The clothes look really nice, but at such low prices I suspect they will be cheap and nasty.

Any experience?

Really poor quality and sizing is ridiculously small.

Noneformethanks · 18/08/2020 06:15

Dd just bought a load of stuff off them.

It’s tiny sizes but so is she (ridiculously skinny age 18)

Takes ages to come.

Quality is comparable with Primark.

mrsmummy1111 · 18/08/2020 06:30

Absolutely shite

IpanemaSunshine · 18/08/2020 06:40

Awful quality, material so thin, the tops and skirts were see through. We sent it all back.

zippityzip · 18/08/2020 06:43

That's odd I had quite a good experience. I bought a load of maternity stuff as I had nothing that I could fit into.
Delivery said a couple of weeks but took just over a week.
You're not getting handmade boutique quality but they were decent - again Primark kind of range.
And the sizing was fine.

Bagelsandbrie · 18/08/2020 06:45

Impossible to get refunds from as well. My daughter never got a refund for her returned items despite messaging / Facebook etc etc. They just don’t reply in the end. Avoid.

Noneformethanks · 18/08/2020 06:46

I honestly didn’t think the quality was any worse than Primark.

Dd bought ribbed vest tops that definitely weren’t see through, nor were the shorts she bought they were like a velour.

She bought two tie front cropped patterned blouses that were thin cotton but not any worse than Primark would be.

And she got three vest tops two pairs of shorts two cropped blouses and a ton of jewellery for about twenty quid.

Noneformethanks · 18/08/2020 06:47

And the shorts were granny appropriate and didn’t show her arse so that was a win.

I wouldn’t be treating them like quality clothes - but cheap fashion.

I've had good experiences so far with Shein. Delivery seems to take around 7-10days. Sizing has been fine as long as you order the right one! Just make sure you read the individual garment reviews and pay heed to the recommendations to "size up" or "size down"). Reviews tend to be very thorough with lots of people posting photos so you can get a pretty good indication of the quality, style & fit of each item before ordering.

I order for myself and 4 teen girls (with sizes varying from 6 - 16 and not had anything that doesn't fit so far). Quality has been fine. In my experience, better than BooHoo/Pretty Little Thing. Slightly better or on a par with Primark.

glasgow357 · 18/08/2020 06:53

Totally hit and miss! Every order is a gamble.

cricketmum84 · 18/08/2020 06:55

Our gamble paid off ok, I got 2 lovely dresses that both fit perfect in my normal size and DD ordered some vests and t shirts that again fit perfect and definitely weren't see through. Delivery was quicker than expected too.

Furballs35 · 18/08/2020 06:55

I've bought myself and my dd clothes from Shein and they've all been fine. I use the sizing chart because everything is different and I check out the reviews. I tend to go for stuff where lots of people have uploaded photos of themselves wearing the item so I can be fairly sure of what I'm getting. Never had to send anything back so don't know about issues with returns.

longhaulstress · 18/08/2020 07:01

I've had some really good things from there although I tend to stick to ordering fairly easy things that will fit e.g t shirts, loose dresses.

petrocellihouse · 18/08/2020 07:09

The photography for the clothes in Shein is one of the wonders of the world. Most of the stuff is made to look as if its cotton or linen and in reality is polyester stuff, especially the dresses. Having said that, I have had a couple of holiday items which were fine for the price. Just don’t go near anything electric with all the static you will build up by wearing any of the items you might buy!

Sasuma · 18/08/2020 08:25

Don’t you worry about supporting companies like this?

Have you thought about the labour practices you might be supporting, and the environmental impact?

WonderHike · 18/08/2020 08:27

Shein. Are they a good company?

Ha ha Grin

Cheeseycheeseycheesecheese · 18/08/2020 08:31

I buy a lot of stuff for photoshoots. Mainly lingerie and bralette type stuff, It's good for that, but not for everyday wear.

Although, I did order a couple of body suits to wear under skirts, they arrived about 2 weeks ago and they seem to be pretty good for regular wear.

Noneformethanks · 18/08/2020 08:31

No worse than any other of the cheap fashion places. 🤷‍♀️

Or indeed many of the more expensive places.

Inspirationpending · 18/08/2020 08:35

Yes totally agree to check the photographs of real people wearing them. Sizing I’ve not had an issue with so far

BillywilliamV · 18/08/2020 08:35

You get what you pay for.. so they are n ot splendid quality but okay!
However, when I tried to use my work Email address, there was a massive security alert, so that maybe a factor you'd like to consider!

JoeCalFuckingZaghe · 18/08/2020 08:37

I’ve ordered once, good fit tbh and I’m plus sized. The quality is comparable to primark, but it is all polyester.

I’d love to be able to buy ethical clothing @Sasuma unfortunately I’m on the breadline atm, and when I need clothes I need them cheap. I can’t spend £50/£60 on one item. I’ll wear these clothes until they’re practically rags. I feel enough guilt about it, thanks.

BigFatLiar · 18/08/2020 08:39

I've used them and they're fine provided you check the individual items sizes. A garment size x may be a different size from another size x, the difference can be significant. Some of the cotton seem to shrink a bit. For cheapish clothes not bad.

Sasuma · 18/08/2020 08:44

@Noneformethanks that’s a really defeatist attitude! Yes there are other shops that use slave labour and are environmentally damaging - so maybe we should stop shopping in all places that are ethically dubious? We support them and keep these awful businesses going.

@JoeCalFuckingZaghe charity shops and eBay are your friend if you want to avoid fast fashion, you can buy brand new high quality items for less than Primark/Shein etc.

Noneformethanks · 18/08/2020 08:47

Like @JoeCalFuckingZagheI keep me and dd1 at uni and dd2 on min wage plus tax credits (which are ending soon as she’s going to uni too) and she’s working part time to fund her own clothes.

I can only afford cheap. I can’t feel guilty about It. Shop in charity shops when I can but if I need stuff I need stuff. Plus dd wants the fashion and she’s size 4/6 which doesn’t tend to be in charity shops.

Noneformethanks · 18/08/2020 08:49

@sasuma. Charity shops don’t have stuff in sizes and styles my dd wants to wear - usually they don’t have anything that fits her.
