First time mum and looking for a good lip balm for my hospital bag, any recommendations for something lovely?

OP posts:

I find blistex is the only one that works for me

Whatevernext1 · 17/08/2020 05:53

Bobbi Brown in the silver tin is good.

Raindrop87 · 17/08/2020 05:55

Anyone tried the Elizabeth Arden one?

OP posts:
efeslight · 17/08/2020 06:00

I use the Elizabeth Arden 8 hr cream for lips but it's also good for little cuts and sore areas. It also worked wonders for really bad nappy rash

efeslight · 17/08/2020 06:01

But expensive so used on bums only once or twice!

Notarealmum · 17/08/2020 06:08

Yes, 8hr cream is great - I’d recommend the tinted (or natural) lipstick.

chatwoo · 17/08/2020 06:09

Nuxe

Modestandatinybitsexy · 17/08/2020 06:23

I'm a big fan of Korres lip butter

Fluffycloudland77 · 17/08/2020 10:41

Lanolin mixed with a bit of petroleum jelly.

wiltingflower · 17/08/2020 10:45

Neutrogena Norwegian formula lip balm stick

wiltingflower · 17/08/2020 10:46

Also Vaseline over the top, especially at night

GoshHashana · 17/08/2020 11:15

The EOS ones in the round tubs are amazing. I have one lurking in every room and handbag.

SunshineChatter · 17/08/2020 11:35

@Raindrop87 I am a huge consumer of lip balms. Have been since I was a teenager so now I have to use it or my lips will be too painful. I make my own according to this recipe but no essential oils: www.happinessishomemade.net/10-minute-diy-lip-balm/ - I love it because it's very moisturising and cheap as chips. I get the beeswax and shea butter from Amazon and the coconut oil (which I use to remove make up) from the local Asian food store.

As for Elizabeth Arden, while the 8hr cream is great on your lips, the actual lip balm is useless!

OhRosalind · 17/08/2020 11:45

Nuxe do a nice one. If you’re planning on breastfeeding, buy Lanisoh or the Mama mio nipple balm are great for lips.

ChequerBoard · 17/08/2020 11:50

Malin & Goetz Lip Moisturiser is amazingly soothing and long lasting. It's my go-to and always in my bag now.

There is also a Mojito flavoured one which is really nice too!

Eps

Livpool · 17/08/2020 12:13

Eos even

Itwasgoodwhileitlasted · 17/08/2020 12:13

Burts bees flavour crystals in orange. Lovely and fresh. Good luck with the baby OP!

wormshock · 17/08/2020 12:16

Blistex for me too. Really works. Do t like the oil based ones.

Wolfiefan · 17/08/2020 12:18

Worth thinking about one that’s not in a pot. If you’re in hospital I wouldn’t want to be dipping my fingers in a pot and putting it round my mouth! I’ve used Eos and liked them.

Legallybleachblonde · 17/08/2020 12:26

Carmex for me every time. The one in the little round pot with a screw lid (not the tinted ones in a tube).

-Kiehls lip balm
-M&S lip balm stick (mint) is superb! One of the best I have ever used (it's a green tube and you find it as you check out).
-Uriage Eau Theramale lip balm (stick) is also superb!

I have used Elizabeth Arden many times but it tends to dry your lips out over time. You become very dependent on it and it requires a lot of reapplying. If I were to narrow it down to one, it would be Uriage.

Julmust · 17/08/2020 15:02

Petit Marseillais or Nivea

LionLily · 18/08/2020 22:19

I'm currently extremely impressed with O'Keefe lip repair and protect. I don't like gunky stuff on my lips and this has transformed my lips in a couple of applications.
