Skincare present for 18 year old

DD would like skincare stuff for a present.
She's not spotty, normal skin slightly oily around nose.
Has had small red bumps appear with about 3 products over the years. I don't know if this makes her skin sensitive?
What sort of brands/skin routine would you recommend as a gift?
Range up to £75 or so for various products
Thank you

Tbh things that work are pretty cheap & not exciting.

MistyMinge2 · 16/08/2020 10:28

The Ordinary do regime starter kits for different skin types and it's affordable if she wants to carry it on.

Or, I'd look at Dermalogica (more expensive), La Roche Posay or The inkey list.

MistyMinge2 · 16/08/2020 10:30

Or how about a subscription box like Birchbox or Look Fantastic

WithIcePlease · 16/08/2020 10:33

I'd thought of la Roche posay or a Birchbox subscription. The ordinary is a good idea too
I could get a couple of starter kits and she could decide which she likes.

Mario Badescu is what all the cool young people use around my way.

Glow recipe, gentle and perform well. Cult beauty have good gift sets

abitoflight · 16/08/2020 12:39

I'd seen the mario badescu on beauty bay but was wary as I'd not heard of it before

I would buy high street products she can afford to continue to use. Boots own brand have a teen range, their naturals range is good too. Otherwise a subscription is a good idea, 6 months or whatever. Personally I switched to Aldi from £££ branded, it's just as good

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 16/08/2020 12:51

Mario Badescu do a drying lotion ( two layers in a bottle , you dip a cotton bud in and apply to blemishes . Its about £16ish) DD loves this but says the Revolution one (£8-£10 ) is a good dupe .
But for the rosewater spray she likes the MD one .

She likes Sukin and re-buys them.
I got her a kit (three products) for Day 1 of her Advent Calender

It depends if you want items from the same brand -
designs to work in synergy or clever marketing ploy ?
Or pick different items to do a bespoke regime .

I know one thing though - most Dermatologists say the biggest threat to skin is sun, smoking, dehydration and overloading of product .

Mario Badescue is expensive scented water, it’s pointless. If she has sensitive skin this will likely irritate it.

Pixi Milky Mist is lovely and hydrating and really good for young skin.

Agree with the Glow Recipe suggestion, the Watermelon Juice moisturiser is lovely.

Milk Makeup do some great products as well.

abitoflight · 16/08/2020 14:00

I'm an Aldi/Superdrug skincare person too
I'm going for the Ordinary, the Pixi mist and Glow I think
Thank you all
