Philip Kingsley Elasticiser has left my hair greasy - Olaplex instead?

Have long quite fine hair but shit loads of it. Naturally grey so use purple shampoo a couple of times a week (yellows otherwise) and with the recent humidity it has been particularly dry and frizzy.

Left the elasticizer on for half an hour before showering and now the ends are greasy. The rest of it is quite soft and smooth but soft roots and mid lengths aren't really worth the chip shop ends esp as they're the driest part of my hair. Thankfully it was only a sample from a birchbox, would've been gutted if I'd paid £30 for this result.

Is Olaplex 3 worth trying as an alternative?

Olaplex and Elasticizer are totally different things. Olaplex is a bind rebuilder. It is not a conditioner. It reforms broken and weak bonds. Elasticizer is a deep conditioning treatment. I has oils and moisturisers to nourish the hair. I use both. I have never had greasy problems from using E. Maybe you haven't washed it out properly?

I must be the only person in the world whose hair does not respond to olaplex so suit not recommend. Even leaving it on over night makes no difference at all

I have a lot of fine dry long hair and much prefer olaplex to elasticizer. The olaplex mask (no 3) was fabulous for my hair.

i na e long fine hair too and always double cleanse with shampoo afterwards, im sure it was a tip from the pk rep on qvc

Olaplex will strip the purple tone from your hair.

What problem are you actually trying to remedy?

If your hair is weak and broken through colouring then olaplex will help to strengthen bonds. If your hair isn't like this then olaplex isn't going to give you transformative results (and in any event it is a treatment that improves with regular usage).

Olaplex goes on before shampooing and conditioning. You put it on, leave as long as possible (I sleep in it) and then wash it out.

If you want a moisturising conditioner then olaplex is not what you're looking for and its extremely expensive so I'd only buy it if youre looking for bond repair.

Personally I really like the olaplex range and I use the shampoo, and conditioner and also use number 2 (salon treatment only but my hairdresser gets it for me) once a fortnight. I use a watered down version of number 2 (so more akin to the number 3 home treatment) as a leave in overnight spray in conditioner once a week (also washed out the following morning).

I should say I'm 47 and have been dying my very long thick hair lighter since I was 21 so for me its a good treatment.
