Getting my leg varicose veins sorted!

I'm 48 & the last couple of years I've developed a couple of corking great varicose veins on my calves, in particular my left calf.
I'm very conscious of it to the point that I no longer wear skirts unless I'm wearing thick tights.
I already have quite muscly, chunky legs & cankles which is bad enough as I'm only 5ft tall.
I exercise, BMI of 22, drink plenty of water.
I know it's vacuous & I should love my body, etc, etc but it just looks so ugly!
Anyway, can anyone recommend a clinic that deals with them effectively, either in Central London or the Guildford area.
Thank-you!

I too noticed my first varicose veins starting about age 14. It started as a blue vein on the inside of my knee, now at 47ITi bulges all the way down the inside of my right calf. I do notice in general the veins in my legs are all visible and close to the surface and always have been. I feel if I get one removed it will divert the flow to another vein and the problem will recur.

I would avoid a clinic and go to a recommended doctor. It won’t necessarily be a flawless result but it will help and importantly will stop it worsening.
I saw John Scurr at the Lister years ago and had a traditional operation on one vein. It was absolutely fine. Quick recovery. Had a decent outcome although 12 years later have another worsening in same leg. I would go back though.

@Jocasta2018 Hi I've suffered from varicose veins all my life. After having children they were really bad -- painful and unsightly. I had them 'stripped' by a general surgeon which was agonising and did not work - they just came back. I then had them removed by Professor Whiteley in London about 4 years ago and I highly recommend him. If only I had gone to him sooner. He sorted them 100% and all paid for by my private health insurance. I now enjoy wearing shorts which was completely out of the question for many years. He is an expert in the field and I cannot rate him highly enough.

Thanks for all your advice & names of doctors.
I was always worried that an operation would go wrong and I'd end up sprouting even more of the buggers and this has confirmed that I need to do major amounts of research.
In the meantime, I've got quite a few tattoos so I'm talking to my tattooist about doing some Henna designs that could work to cover them up.
Obviously the designs would have to be easy to add to just in case any more appear.
I still wouldn't be able to wear skirts without thick black tights (which I do at the moment anyway) but I could wear shorts & also not be embarrassed by them in 'intimate situations'.
