What is their secret?

Hi
I often staycation with my family at the same place in uk. We're very lucky to be by the beach. We've got to know a few others who do the same and it always amazes me how good some of the other women look after a day on the beach - specifically their hair.

What is their secret?? Please help me mumsnetters. What can I do to my fine shoulder length hair to keep it shiny and unfrizzy!! I end up sticking it up in a ponytail and it just looks a-bit crap and windswept (like i've been dragged through a hedge).

Is there some magical treatment I can have a few times a year? I tend to have a cut and colour every 5 weeks (admittedly I've home dyed over lockdown). I use a thickening product too when I dry my hair but it always looks abit rubbish by the end of the day (beach or not).

Hoping that collective wisdom will find the answer! Thanks

I share your pain! The best solution I found ( I have lots of hair but it's fine) was to run a watered down conditioner through my hair (mid length to ends with just a scraping on top) before I went out for the day ( I'm guessing a leave in conditioner spray would do the same thing but I'm a tightarse!) then tie it up for a few hours. By the time it had dried out, I could take it out of the bun/ponytail and brush through, and it looked much more polished for the rest of the day than if I hadn't.

I have long, relatively fine hair. I usually put it up in a bun or something because I hate the extra heat it creates if left down and the flyaways or shorter hairs sticking to my face. I often also slather it in coconut oil before I put it up and then when I wash it in the evenings it's amazingly soft.

Salt can make your hair look amazing and full of body or really frizzy, it depends which type you have. It's why sea salt sprays are a thing. As above use some watered down leave in conditioner or a lightweight oil before venturing out and it'll lessen the impact of salt and subsequent frizz.

Get a kebelo treatment or do a keratin treatment at home. It really makes a difference.

A lot is simply down to your hair type though.
Some hair just never frizzes or curls

Fluffycloudland77 · 10/08/2020 13:57

Brazilian blow dry.

I think this is what I need! Just googled and it looks like the type of hair I need!! Thank you. I'm going to look into it now Smile

Brazilian blow drys just made my hair really lifeless and greasy. I now use the steampod 3 by L'Oréal. I've in a hot and humid country and my hair never gets frizzy.

I use Aveda’s Phomollient Styling Foam, apply to dried hair, and comb through. Keeps my prone to frizz fine wavy hair under control, whatever the beach weather.

It’s not something basic like hair spray is it?
