Where do I shop in my 30’s?!

For reasons I won’t bore you with I have very little clothing at the moment. I need to return to work soon and need new outfits (for work and for my own sake!)
I have looked online and realised I am clueless.
I am in my 30’s but a very different body shape to my 20’s (DC), I am also on a budget. I don’t like Cos and couldn’t afford it if I did!
I have big boobs, a tummy, bum, and nice legs. For work I need something that won’t show cleavage or pants in any position (but nothing with too high a neckline or I look like a matron due to big bust) and has a bit of colour, I was wondering about leggings and a nice/short/floral tea dress/tunic with a cardigan. Am I horrible out of touch? Where should I shop??
Shoes wise I have Superga canvases and Dune brown boots (happy to invest in shoes and underwear but otherwise I don’t have a big budget).
Can anyone point me in the right direction?

H&M (particularly the Conscious range) is my current go-to. Ditto MONKI and WEEKDAY (think the latter is owned by H&M too).

I've been pleasantly surprised by the clothing in sainsburys recently too. I've bought some great linen shirts, chambray dresses etc for very little, so great if you want to spend less on work stuff than 'fun' clothes.

Bagelsandbrie · 09/08/2020 09:38

That dress from H and M is nice op. Grin

RachelLyg · 09/08/2020 09:45

I like the H&M dress too. The black and white prints are nice, as well as the plain black.

Rhiflexx · 09/08/2020 09:51

Hey!
H&m is great but sizing can be a bit weird sometimes. Also www.audreyandgeorge.co.uk for some great earrings that will brighten up any outfit 💕

If you use Facebook, have a look at the group Styled by Susie. I can't afford the analysis but googled what colour season I am and what body shape. I'm 32 and have 2 kids and had completely lost my way but this has really helped! So my answer is any shop but know what suits you.

Also top rules - invest in bras that properly fit and avoid polyester

Smellbellina · 09/08/2020 10:10

@Toriathebadger yes that’s it exactly!

@RachelLyg I am investing in new underwear as I seem to have 2 stomachs and 4 boobs at the mo and reply that isn’t helping.

FYI I think the TU 25% sale starts on Tuesday as I was looking on there too.

You'll probably get the best value in H&M. Uniqglo have a lot of sale items in store at the moment. Their website is dire.

Hermano · 09/08/2020 10:36

I have the same figure, following to read later. I've never heard of Monki so that's a useful start!

I've been finding more and more things in Oliver Bonas, to my surprise. The trousers are cut just right for me - high small waist and big hips. I swerve the mad prints as ever.

cuppycakey · 09/08/2020 12:19

Monki definitely.

You need to look at the sizing chart for each item as you buy it. I find their clothes quite generously proportioned.

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 09/08/2020 12:29

I'm older than you - early 40s - but I really struggle with where to shop too. I find the stuff my peers wear - Boden, Joules, Fat Face, White Stuff - horribly frumpy. Reiss is too formal and pricy, as is Phase Eight and Jigsaw. I like White Company and Hush but find them too expensive for what they are.

So I mainly shop in charity shops, as I can pick up quality items - cashmere jumpers, designer jeans, silk dresses - for a lot less. I also pick up the occasional thing from TK Maxx - got a Regatta waterproof jacket there for £20 recently - and I like Uniqlo for basics.

Focusanddetermination · 09/08/2020 12:44

I think I have the same height and figure as you and struggle equally.

I find h&m has the right proportions though items hit and miss

DreamingofSunshine · 09/08/2020 13:22

I'm 34, 5ft5 size 12 apple shape. I shop in oasis, warehouse and new look, sometimes DP.

My go to look is a floral or patterned dress with a loose cardigan that's quite open knit- not a tight fitted block knit fitted one. In the winter I add tights and a parka coat.

Smellbellina · 09/08/2020 14:53

Well I bit the bullet and actually went to the shops. Got some fantastic bargains from H&M, sunglasses for £2, trousers, dress and ballet wrap cardigan for £3 each!
Also bought a big pink netty skirt Blush couldn’t resist it!

I saw a girl wearing a big netty skirt with a leather jacket and biker boots. Looked fab!

MisiaMisia · 09/08/2020 16:28

A few shops worth a look, that have not been mentioned:
Reserved
Great Plains
Mango
La Redoute

fantasmasgoria1 · 09/08/2020 16:39

Wherever you want to!?! I am mid 40s and I am a goth and a buy what I want from where I want. I think you should wear what make you feel good and happy, life is way too short to worry about it.
