If I like Cos but am too poor for it... where should I shop?

In a style rut after a baby... please help! Like Cos, jigsaw... but budget won’t stretch. Where can I go for a similar look for less money? Tia

eBay!

dudsville · 07/08/2020 21:12

Sale COS! They get their prices right down. Takes patience to wait for sales though.

PerditaNitt · 07/08/2020 22:35

cos sales are pretty good and they do reduce to 50pc regularly (and usually do a sale preview for a day in advance if you are signed up to their newsletter). I don’t think I’ve ever paid full price for anything from there.

H&M have some unstructured styles which are similar to COS but I think that the fabric quality at COS is better and worth the extra money.

Kin in John Lewis also has a lot of Swedish architect type clothes but I think they are no cheaper than cos

PickAChew · 07/08/2020 22:38

Have you tried any cos stuff on. The stuff seems to be sized to fit my lanky husband.

fizzpopbang123 · 08/08/2020 06:26

Cos sales and eBay.

To answer your question, Uniqlo and HM. However, you will lose the natural fibres Cos use when you shop cheaper. Aside from the cuts, using good quality fabric makes Cos clothes hang in the way they do and you can't replicate that with cheap synthetic rubbish.

LunaTheCat · 08/08/2020 06:31

I would go to Cos shop, try on heaps things. They tend to repeat their patterns a lot. Wait for sale or hunt off e bay..

itchyfinger · 08/08/2020 06:45

H&M. They are the same company as COS and & other stories, but way cheaper.

Thinkle · 08/08/2020 07:22

Some Uniqlo stuff

Anewmum2018 · 08/08/2020 07:37

Thanks everyone! I always seem to miss their sales....
Yes I know what you mean about lanky husband type styles... for some reason, they hang really well on me, despite being short. I guess you get what you pay for sometimes, it must be the fabric, as h and m always seems to go saggy so quickly.
Does anyone have any experience with Monki?

Imtoooldforallthis · 08/08/2020 07:58

Hi can anyone give me an idea on sizing, I am a size 14-16.

Alez · 08/08/2020 07:59

Monki is great. They have some stuff that I think is similar to cos.

bookish83 · 08/08/2020 08:00

H&M or Uniqlo

I like Monki though it is often too oversized for me to suit!

H&M had a lovely khaki shirt dress in - oversized and to me looked very Cos like

thedevilinablackdress · 08/08/2020 08:54

Yes, selective shopping at H&M and Monki. Monki do excellent denim and heavy duty cotton things (got a great duster coat last year).

thedevilinablackdress · 08/08/2020 08:56

The H&M Trend range is most COS-y I reckon

Notarealmum · 08/08/2020 09:02

Cos used to donate old season (?) stock to a charity shop chain, I think it may have been British Heart Foundation - I don’t know if that still happens?

AsMuchUseAsAMarzipanDildo · 08/08/2020 09:12

I bought a couple of Lyocell dresses in the Oliver Bonas sale that we’re very much in the style of Cos (also bought a size up for the full effect). I normally find Oliver Bonas too “pretty”, but these are simple, plain colours, drape beautifully and are really breathable.

Sparkletastic · 08/08/2020 09:40

Monki is great but agreed a lot is very oversized and you have to keep an eye out for the man-made fibres.

MrDarcysMa · 08/08/2020 09:50

Monki is your friend. some of their patterns are awful but they do some very boxy/ androgynous oversized cuts in monochrome.... very cos.

thedevilinablackdress · 08/08/2020 09:50

Red Cross charity shop is the one I've seen COS new-old stock in.

cuppycakey · 08/08/2020 11:15

Another vote for Monki! I just got a shirt from Monki in my Stitch Fix box and I had never even heard of them before.

I have now looked on their website and I like so much of it.

ScribblingMilly · 08/08/2020 11:19

BrandAlley has some Jigsaw at the moment, seeing that's the other brand you like,

Saurus72 · 08/08/2020 17:43

Kin at John Lewis is along the same lines - if you can get to a JL store there are massive bargains to be had in the sale. Dresses for £26!

Notarealmum · 09/08/2020 03:22

@thedevilinablackdress

Red Cross, that’s it, thanks!
Thinkle · 13/08/2020 12:34

I’ve just come back on to say that the Arket sale which is mostly half price is now also BOGOF!
