Clothes shopping is so depressing. Help!

After a few very hard years that have taken a bit of a toll on my self esteem and body, (multiple late pregnancy losses) I’ve decided to treat myself to some new clothes, but I’m finding it so hard to find anything I like or that looks good on me. I need some recommendations!

I’m early 30s, size 12-14, about 5 foot 6, big bum and hips and a bit of a c section overhang, but a small -ish waist. In my 20s, when I worked in an office, was a bit slimmer and more confident, I just wore vintage style bright colourful dresses - I loved my clothes and was always complimented on my style. Now I feel silly if I wear anything like that and also it doesn’t suit my current lifestyle - I work as a childminder so lots of crawling around after toddlers! But I don’t want to lose that part of me completely so I still like colourful/quirky/vintage style stuff, just a more practical comfy version if such a thing exists!?

My biggest struggle at the moment - Where do people go for good jeans? Especially if you’re bum-heavy like me? I got a pair of black skinny jeans from Asda that fit SO well (in a 12) After a few months I ended up with holes in the knees, so I bought the exact same ones again but for some reason the new pair doesn’t fit right and feel too tight on my legs despite fitting my waist. I also have a pair of Joni jeans from top shop (size 14) that are probably not the most flattering thing on me (I think they highlight my tummy too much) but they’re comfy and easy. I love the whole look of T-shirt tucked into slouchy jeans but I think my tummy is too podgy to pull that off. I ordered some ‘mom’ jeans from ASOS this week but they’re all being sent back - I could barely squeeze into them, even in a 14.

I also found a website called apricot clothing and thought it looked quite promising, but it arrived the other day and is such rubbish quality that it’s pretty much all going back.

This is why I just end up buying all my clothes at supermarkets and looking ten years older than I am. The fun of clothes shopping is no more Sad

I keep seeing John Lewis personal stylists recommended on here. Free sessions and the stylist are meant to be quite good. This will probably be my go to once I've lost weight as I want to get some good quality items that suit my shape.
