Why have I got these horrible baggy wrinkles instead of normal laugh lines?

Pic attached, I don't think it's a very good one but hopefully will show what I mean. I'm 43 and have quite a few wrinkles, some really bad ones on my forehead and a few elsewhere...but the ones under my eyes are really bothering me Sad

My friends all seem to have the classic laugh lines/crow's feet that sort of radiate under the eye. I haven't got any like that - instead I've got these horrible crooked ones that make my eye bags look ten times worse. I look like my dad!

Is there anything that actually gets rid of these fuckers, or do I just need to accept it?

I’m the same age and you seem like you have dewy plump youthful skin to me. I’d have yours over my laughter lines/crows feet!

Botox, they're expression lines.

Also have you had your thyroid tested recently, hypothyroidism can cause a puffy face.

sadpapercourtesan · 04/08/2020 13:06

That's interesting about the thyroid, I've had it tested a couple of times and it's been borderline. Botox is off the cards, I can't afford it.

I have these. Tried everything and now I live with them

sadpapercourtesan · 04/08/2020 17:04

They look much worse first thing in the morning as well, it's always depressing looking in the mirror when I get up. Have tried lots of different things but to no avail Sad

Not an expert but it looks like it could be a drainage issue. Have you tried facial massage with a rose quartz roller?

sadpapercourtesan · 04/08/2020 19:39

I've never heard of a rose quartz roller! Will look into it. Drainage issue as in trapped fluid?

Try and cut down on salt. Salt makes your under eye area puffy and it’s an easy thing to try, and might have an effect.
Certainly for me, if I’m getting puffy under eyes I notice after cutting out salt they reduce significantly.

Cheeseybites · 04/08/2020 21:19

Honestly speaking they dont look at all, I'm looking to get fillers because my under eye bags have nothing in them to plump them out!

Pikachubaby · 04/08/2020 21:22

Your skin looks fine, but your eyes look a bit puffy, my eyes look like that if I don’t take me antihistamines daily (dust, dog and pollen allergies)

Only realised these allergies at 43 Grin

My puffiness now gone

Annettebee · 05/08/2020 13:44

If your thyroid is borderline and you have symptoms of an under active thyroid ask you doctor for levothyroxine.

MulberryPeony · 05/08/2020 19:30

@sadpapercourtesan yes as in lymphatic drainage. The rose quartz is very cool to the touch too so relaxing.

Those little lines on your eyes?

I don't know but my husband has little lines like that - I absolutely adore them, I think they make him even more lovely and probably because they're not that common. Anyone can have laughter lines, I think there is something really beautiful in the difference.
