Shampoos that colour / cover grey?

Any good experiences here?

I am getting more than the odd grey hair now and have been using John Frieda Brilliant Brunette shampoo and conditioner, and I think they definitely do work to give a bit more depth of colour to my ordinarily mousy brown hair, and disguise the greys a bit.

However there are certainly those greys that have the coarser texture and stand out irrespective.

I'm trying to avoid going down the hairdresser dying route for as long as possible (and in fact I might just let it all go grey naturally) but I'd be interested to hear if anyone was super pleased with colouring shampoos and conditioners they have used to disguise grey hairs.

I'm looking for a minimal fuss / least dramatic change to appearance as far as possible.

I’ve been using Revlon Brownlights for 2 weeks. I don’t know if it would colour grey completely, I bought it to tone brassiness and it’s pretty amazing at that.
You have to shampoo it in and leave it to ‘take’ before rinsing off.

I tried the Provoke brown shampoo. Coloured my hands lovely, but didn't seem to colour my hair Hmm.

Redken Graydient. The shampoo is purple and the conditioner is grey.

Superdrug Colour Effects are cheap enough to experiment with. I certainly find them as good as anything else I’ve tried (I’ve probably tried them all!) I’m about 20% grey and coloured shampoos blend the greys I have in the top sections of my hair. Nothing touches the stubborn, wiry and coarse bastards I have underneath though! Provoke does a nice brunette conditioner, and theIr shampoos and conditioners don’t contain any sulphates, silicons etc.

Try a semi permanent. It will be more effective at camouflaging greys. Easy to apply and, even if it is a dreadful mistake, some vigorous repeated shampooing will rescue you.

I use Marion hair colour shampoo and find it works really well, it is a European brand but is sold at various places online.

Thanks for all these suggestions - I am looking through product reviews now - quite polarised reviews for a lot of products - some people raving about them and others talking of orange / pink hair etc!

I’ve used the Josh Wood semi-permanent Shade Shot Gloss....on blonde hair, and it covers grey very well. I have been using it every few weeks during lockdown, and I find one tube lasts for three applications. They do shades for brunettes too. Easy to use, and it leaves the hair in great condition.
