Ordering trainers online

I bought some trainers which have just arrived and they are not laced up - ie the laces are out through the top 2 holes and the rear of the laces are left dangling for me to lace up myself.

Is this normal?

My DH says this happens all the time when he buys shoes off the internet, but my trainers were bought from a department store and I feel a bit disappointed TBH, especially as I tried to lace up the trainers and they look a bit / a lot crap.

If I am in the wrong and unlaced trainers are the norm, has anyone got a good method for making the laces look evenly laces and smart?

Thanks.

It just proves to me that the shoes are completely new and unworn and probably not returns. All a good thing. They all arrive in shops like that too, it's only the sales assistants who lace them up as customers ask to try them on. Nothing to do with online specifically.

There's no magic skill to lacing trainers, although there are different ways to do it. Just youtube a tutorial.

That's how they come if you are the first person to try them in in a shop too. How do you like them laced? Crisscross or bar? YouTube!

Thanks for replying.

I will look at Youtube - the trainers came with a brochure so they are supposed to be criss crossed. I tried and couldn’t get the laces to lie flat so I’ll have another go.

I know I’m being precious and I do know how to lace up shoes, I promise. Normally the kids shoes have round laces which are easier. These are flat laces so any error is obvious.

I have a vague recollection that the different ways of lacing make a difference to how tight/ supportive they are. I don't like cross cross myself
