Has anyone ever used natural ingredients for hair colour?

I have naturally mousy hair with a tinge of red. Ideally would like it to be much redder but I don't want to use a box dye or go to a hairdresser. I've searched on Pinterest and it tells me to put rooibis tea on my hair. Has anyone actually done this or similar with decent results? Failing that, is there a shampoo I could use or even a mouse to make it redder?

There is a John Frieda red shampoo & conditioner but you need a fair bit of red in your hair already

Superdrug Colour Effects. There is a rich red and a copper one. The longer you leave it on, the more intense the colour.

Henna.
I have mousy hair and for years I used henna. It is really good for your hair and gives it a glossy shine as well as a good colour.

The last time I henna'd my hair I used the Lush products. There are several different options, and you can even mix two of them together. It fades a bit after several weeks, I re-did about every 6-8 weeks.

I doubt rooibos would have much effect.

Depending on the quality of the henna (high quality - very intense), you can give yourself extremely copper red hair and it's very permanent so don't do it unless you're sure! I've been hennaing my naturally dark blonde hair for about 15 years.

You can do a gloss as mentioned above but bear in mind that this is also quite permanent and you need to be careful to avoid build up on the length (apply to roots only or the length will get progressively redder as the lawtone in the henna builds up).

Rhubarb powder can also be used for a red effect but like rooibos not especially permanent. Revlon nutricolour creme in 740 might give you the effect you are looking for without too much commitment, it's a colour depositing conditioner.
