Has anyone used them for straighter teeth? I’ve just seen an advert online and had a look at their website. They would charge half of what my dentist would charge for an Invisalign treatment. I can’t really see much difference- from what my dentist said, her involvement would be quite minimal anyway so I was wondering this company could be a good and cheaper alternative?

I paid for my sons to get their teeth straightened. I was dubious, I must admit, but everything turned out well. They are so much happier now and more confident.

Think they’re more suited for straightforward straightening of teeth, although I’ve heard about people having gum issues with smile direct. Something to do with the shaping of the aligner around gums I think. I’ve had Invisalign as my teeth were very crooked and required attachments to help my more crooked teeth move into position. Very expensive but I’m very happy with them and with the level of care from my orthodontist.

No personal experience, but one of my students looked into using them. She had a checkup and x-rays at her own dentist first, who said that her teeth have naturally short roots, and didn’t recommend messing around with moving them. She has very slightly gappy bottom teeth, and her dentist recommended composite bonding and a whitening treatment, which was far cheaper than SD anyway. (The treatment was postponed due to lockdown.)
