I ruined my hair.. any hairdressers around?

So when lockdown started I had the bright idea of dying my hair a crazy colour.. I thought I'd lighten it first using a garnier box dye bleachy thingy so that the colour would show up better on my very dark hair.

Now a few months later I have two tone hair, I have box dyed it a few times since and the ends go really faded very fast after a couple of weekss whereas the roots are darker.

Yep I know bleach is permanent so all I can do is wait for it to grow out but in the meantime I'm thinking to just put a semi permanent on every few weeks and hope the colour stays on the bleached bit for long enough not to really fade. I can't really use the permanent dye any more as the hair condition is really poor now and it fades so quick it's barely worth doing. The first two weeks are not bad but then it really comes off.

I have a sensitive scalp so have to use a medicated shampoo which probably doesn't help. Also if I don't wash my hair every 2 days max my scalp gets itchy. So I have to wash it quite a lot and with special shampoo.

Is there anything else I can do to keep the colour in a bit longer?

Please goto a hairdresser. It will only get into more of a mess.Step away from the box dye

This is what you can do;

Cut off as much as you dare (at hairdressers).

use semi permanent dye on lighter parts only. Leave for longest development time allowed (see instructions)

Shampoo roots only when washing.

Wash hair with lukewarm water only. Hot water will open the cuticle, and speed fade.

Invest in a decent colour seal conditioner. Finish with a cold rinse.

Use oils or serums on your dry midlengths/ends. The more moisturised the better the dye will hold.

I wouldn't keep getting it professionally dyed as it'll still fade quickly. (Unless you have money to burn).

Spend money on repairing conditioners and aim to get those ends cut off as soon as it's long enough.

Sorry if that all sounds bossy Grin

Thanks, I have had it cut to a chin length bob and invested in some semi permanent.

Will look into serums. I've also ordered the olaplex (superdrug version) as heard that's good.

Regretting it now as the ends look really bad. I say ends but this is from half way down my head so will take a while to grow out.
