A Parka request. (Or rainproof with hood)

Good morning Ladies.
Help required to find stylish (but of course) parka (or sim) to cope with my first winter in a long time of having no car and lots of walking trips. Really need a good, parka-style coat, preferably grey or black (yawn) and quite long WITH HOOD. Needs to be quite light as work up a bit of body warmth with all this walking about - I'm def not cold blooded.
Thanks

Walnutshell · 01/10/2007 09:41

Oh cr*p. I haven't been on for a while - I should have done a search first. Will do so now! However, if anyone would like to summarised the debate thus far...

Is it on a par with your views about crocs? I can't help but recall something along the lines of "if I see someone wearing crocs I go up to them and laugh" which always made me giggle (as I put ds's feet into his crocs heh heh).

Still, it's good to be passionate. And I do need a parka which won't make me a local laughing stock.

I'm right in thinking this is Just Too Drab, aren't I?

Good price but shapeless hag?

This is absolutely lovely from Diesel but hoodless and about twice my budget.

codswallop · 01/10/2007 10:03

diesel is not rain proof

MrsBadger · 01/10/2007 10:05

tis ok but am worried tis not properly waterproof
just as shapeless, more expensive but certainly waterproof

RubySlippers · 01/10/2007 10:07

i have just got a parka, grey with a bubble hem and hood from Primark (denim and co brand)
it was £15
wore it in the rain - seemed to be ok
it is lightweight

Walnutshell · 01/10/2007 10:11

Not rainproof? Oh crud, I've slipped into my old had-a-salary-had-a-car days. OK, Diesel thing off the menu.

MrsB - am kinda liking your Peter Storm jobby, although is a bit shapeless. Maybe I could buy in slightly too small size for added interest? Also, there is actually a Millets here - woh! And a Primark, thanks Ruby.

What about Grey Bling Parka (Ignore silly name)

OP posts:
Walnutshell · 04/10/2007 18:25

Had a look in Primark today (in case anyone's listening) and tried on a nice black Parka for a jaw-dropping £12. Was tempted but put off by the fact that the zip was hard to do up (that will become irritating) and I looked a bit of a tw*t with the fur-lined hood up. It wasn't to be. Still, weather like this and I don't care - t-shirt, jeans and flip-flops today, blimey.
