Silk-lined face masks?

Anyone got any recommendations for silk-lined face masks that aren't expensive and, if possible, patterned rather than plain??

Was going to post in the coronavirus topic but then it seemed more of a S&B issue really... I'm finding the cotton ones too scratchy on my face and don't want to end up spending a fortune on masks that then don't work for me.

Am starting to contemplate making my own (happen to have a silk pillowcase that's giving up the ghost) but I'm really not the crafty type!

Have you tried etsy?

I made one last night, it was actually really straight forward. I used a old cotton t-shirt for the lining as it's nice and soft against my face. Also cut the t-shirt up for the ear loops which feel a lot more comfortable on my ears than than elastic.

This was the video I used, I followed the first design:

I had a look at Etsy and did see one that looked like a possibility but was hoping someone might have recommendations - this is absolutely the kind of thing I'd prefer to buy in a shop after feeling the fabric and trying it on but that's obviously not going to be happening.

I think that video has actually put me off - I don't even have decent scissors Blush

I made my own in silk, would not recommend it to someone with beginner skills. Keep in mind you can't wash at high temperatures (handwash only tbh, I quarantine mine in a bag in the freezer for 48hrs, no idea if that does anything but it's something 🤷) and they're not as protective as cotton (unless you layer two layers of chiffon with cotton, but chiffon is a nightmare to work with). Lilysilk sells them but I don't know how long it takes to get here. Saw some by Slip on spacenk but they were £££ which isnt really a surprise, silk is an expensive material and take more skill to work with. Think Rixo had some with floral patterns in silk. Also expensive but they really are much kinder on the skin though.

English Fine Cottons sell a really soft cotton

Covid 19 is not headlice it wont die from freezer 😂🐜

@botemp Freezing will slow the breakdown of any viral particles and mean they're infectious for longer. A hand wash and dry at room temp would be far more effective. Or just leave in the sunlight if you're keen not to wet it at all. Anything but the freezer!!

Thanks, I did wash it after to clarity, I was just a bit clueless what to do with it until I could get round to washing it. It was in one of those zipper freezer bag in my bag so it somehow made sense at the time 🤦

Thanks everyone. I'm still faffing about actually ordering any - found an Etsy one that's a price point I like but then I saw some Liberty print ones that appealed more so vanity vs frugality decision...

@cwoods75 - let me know how you get on with those, I've looked at them a few times as they appeared in some newspaper article recommendations but some of the reviews seemed to be suggesting they were too small to be effective. The bottom half of my face is on the smaller side of average though!

Not silk, but have you looked on the British Fashion Council website? I have just ordered a pair of blue gingham face masks - they are designed to fit properly, are ethically sourced and the net profits go to charity.

Do you by any chance live near Sudbury, Suffolk? Vanners (silk weavers) have them but I don't think they do mail order
