HIIT workout for peri/menopausal weight loss

Hi there. I was wondering if I could have some recommendations for a specific HIIT workout that's roughly 30 minutes long and I can do at home three times a week? The aim is weight loss. I am reasonably strong as I do the 30 day shred 3 times a week and a 30 min jog 3 times a week, but the weight is not budging despite a combination of keto and IF. Cheers all.

Heather Robertson has some great workouts on YouTube. I've been doing them for the past few weeks, after becoming a bit bored of PopSugar.
Lots to choose from, both cardio and strength. I really rate her.

I like Sydney Cummings. If you've been doing shred with weights, I think you'll enjoy her workouts

You're already quite active and I know it isn't what you've asked but are you sure you're in a calorie deficit? There's a free calorie calculator here

You can log everything for free here on their week trial or on mfp.

If you've been doing shred, maybe look at doing something more resistance based rather than hiit, and going out for a walk on the days when you don't jog.

Try GRIT Cardio - it’s a killer :-) you can do a 2-week free trial on les mills on demand website. Hundreds of other workouts on the site, too - Body Combat, Body Attack, Barre, Body Balance, etc

Look up the Pop Sugar Fitness channel on YouTube. Loads of different workouts most 30 mins - it’s been my lockdown joy

I would agree with a PP about not being in a calorie deficit. Weight loss is really that simple. HIIT isn't a miracle cure, and most exercises that claim to be HIIT actually aren't, they are just cardio much like the Shred you're currently doing. You already do x6 lots of cardio a week if you are doing them at maximum capacity and being honest with your food intake, you should be seeing results.

Personally I'd replace some cardio with resistance training. Proper weight lifting in a gym shifted my menopausal weight faster than any cardio. Look up the difference it works on your metabolism, it can be much more efficient.

Thank you for the advice. Much appreciated.

Is there any specific resistance training you'd recommend and how long should each workout be, and how frequently should I do it?

Unless a poster here is a PT (I'm not), I'm not sure the S&B board of Mumsnet is the place to ask those questions. Weight lifting serious weight - and it does need to be heavy to get results - comes with the danger of injury if not done correctly. You also need the equipment so a gym or private 1-1 sessions are you answer really.

Having said all that, you could buy some resistance bands or a set of dumbells from Decathlon to start with. There are plenty of Youtube videos to try. Fitness Blender is a good all round website that includes some resistance programmes.

I'd try posting on the exercise board for this one.

I've done the Shred but you do get used to it so I think you need to mix it up - I like Jillian Michaels so I've also done No More Trouble Zones (strength/weights based), Banish Fat Boost Metabolism (cardio), 6 week 6 pack (focused on your core) and Ripped in 30. You find that as you try something different it's MUCH harder.

I've also found increasing the weights I use helped to have a bigger impact - so I first did the shred a few years ago with tins of soup whereas now I would use 3kg weights (or 4kg for some moves).

I haven't really been doing DVDs recently - currently doing a walk-200-miles-in-July challenge - but IME you definitely need to get some real intensity fitted in to trigger weightloss. So, when I'm walking I'll wait till I'm going uphill and then go faster/punch upwards at the same time to get 1-2 minutes of much higher intensity - otherwise I find even an eight mile walk isn't that much use in terms of calorie burning...

And take everything I saw with a pinch of salt cause I don't really know anything except my own experience!
