Botox - your thoughts please!

I am considering getting botox but would really appreciate some views.
I am mid 30s & my face is pretty wrinkle free, I am lucky in that respect especially as I am partial to the odd glass of wine as my name would suggest. However I am developing two vertical frown lines in between my eyebrows. My mum has the same & hers are now extremely deep. Mine at the moment are fine lines but i feel if I want to fix them I need to nip them in the bud. They are caused by involuntary frowning I know - I've tried but can't stop and - thanks to zoom calls - I frown way more than I realised!
A friend (botox fan) told me you only need a few rounds of botox as the muscle-freezing effect eventually means you break the habit that's caused the wrinkle. This sounds logical to me and also sounds like what I need.
However I don't want a frozen face like some of the massively over-botoxed people you see on TV!
Advice & experiences very welcome, thank you

Are you really sure you want the financial drain that BOTOX is, it's not something that you can do for a couple of goes and then stop without it looking worse. Think what else you could do with that money, it seems from comments here that it could easily b.e a grand a year. I know you feel that there are a problem but I can guarantee that unless you have baked on a sunbed and look like dry leather no-one else is going to notice and even if they do you won't be judged.

Getting wrinkles is an inevitable part of the natural process of getting older and surely we should be past the idea that eternal youth can be bought. Anyway never mind how much you do to y our face your hands will always tell the truth.

So many different views on ageing. I felt forced into having Botox and fillers, I used to be a model, everything is about looks, it feels like I’m not allowed to age, not by my friends, my parents, my DP, I wish I had the confidence to age gracefully. It feels like everyone in my life is allowed to age apart from me. Everybody focuses on my appearance.

It’s up to you op, Botox does actually help lines from deepening further. Having your no 11’s done won’t give you a frozen look. It’s £125 for one area where I live and it’s with a GP.

@goose1964 you can just stop, I haven't had Botox for about a year now and I look no worse!

Floisme · 27/07/2020 08:56

I think jowls are way more effective than Botox. Try them - I guarantee you will never notice your wrinkles again.

Misfitmissy · 27/07/2020 08:59

Do you mean Botox in the jaw line or something else?

TooFrickinHot · 27/07/2020 09:06

I agree that you can just stop - I only did it once then stopped due to pregnancy. I just went back to looking like I did before 🤷‍♀️. I think if you've done it for longer it slows down the deepening of lines rather than makes them worse.

Floisme · 27/07/2020 09:08

I mean that wrinkles are far, far away from being the worst sign of ageing. I mean that Botox, in my opinion, is an entry level procedure, designed to get you used to the idea that it's all just a bit of light maintenance, before they reel you in for the heavy duty stuff.

I started having it at 30 by then my lines (11s and horizontal forehead deep ones) were really established. It sorted them out from the first go though. My dentist does it and she is great. I go once every six months at a cost of £220 for 2 areas. So £440 a year IS expensive but it is the best thing I've done for my skin the only thing that made a difference really.

Nobody has ever mentioned it so no idea if people know or not. Sometimes I notice when other people do have it but that's only cos I've had it myself if you know what I mean?

I have baby botox so it's a small amount, still have expressive movement on the forehead and above the eyebrows but the lines are gone.

It takes about 3 days to start working for me and looks the best after 4 weeks exactly. After about 10 weeks you can start to see it stopping working but I can stretch out to 6 months before going again. Probably not any longer though.

Passmethechocolatecake · 27/07/2020 09:21

I’m considering having a small amount done. I have two lines on my forehead that are permanently there, I’m only 27! It doesn’t matter whether my face is resting or frowning. I don’t want them getting worse! I already get lip filler so it feels almost too easy to go the extra step and have Botox as well... I have no intention of aging naturally anyway!

chubbyhotchoc · 27/07/2020 12:25

It's wonderful stuff but I will only go to someone who uses real branded Botox. Not dysport or any other alternatives because they're crap and don't last long so their a false economy.

chubbyhotchoc · 27/07/2020 12:26

I'm 36 and get it about once a year in my crows feet and forehead.
