Urgent - are any of primark's mascaras 'tubing'?

I'm popping into town today and need a new tubing mascara. Usually use the no7 gold one but I don't think it emphasises my lashes enough. Want to try a new budget one.

I've tried 'fake it' from primark before which smudged badly on me, even though it has polymers. It was good for thickening and lengthening though.

I don't want a general waterproof mascara as they still smudge but then I can't wipe it off!

Does anyone know if any primark mascaras are actually tubing ?

Anybody?

I don’t know but would be interested to know. I’ve only used the Clinique one and the No7. Are there any other cheaper brands out there that are tubing? They are the only ones that don’t smudge on me

MrDarcysMa · 24/07/2020 10:37

@Mendeleyev NYX doll eye is tubing- it's ok , so is the L'Oréal one in half red half white tube but it's a bit clumpy as you have to put on 2 layers.
I like Elizabeth Arden zero smudge with the gold lid but it's £££.

Was hoping primark had a copy of one of them!

Thanks for that @MrDarcysMa. I’ll have a look at those. Sorry nobody else has replied

sleepingpup · 24/07/2020 12:09

very interested in this can only use tubing mascaras. Any other takers?

JosephineDeBeauharnais · 24/07/2020 12:11

What’s tubing please?

botemp · 24/07/2020 12:25

Provided you can read the tiny lettering, as a general guide, on the ingredient list instead of listing waxes and traditional oils it will have polymers instead. Usually the upper third of the INCI.

Josephine tubing mascaras tend to wrap around your lashes (like a tube) rather than coat like a traditional mascara. They're pretty budge proof (especially the Japanese ones) and you can only remove them with warm water, they're good if you suffer with oily eyelids/mascara induced panda eyes.

MrDarcysMa · 24/07/2020 12:30

Yes @botemp but the primark one I tried had polymers listed but was not tubing it smudges everywhere. And some tubing ones have oils listed so it's difficult.

That's annoying @MrDarcysMa, IME though tubing mascaras on the cheaper end (unless you're in a Japanese drugstore) are never that great and just don't perform the same.

I use Maybelline Snapscara and really like it. I have no idea about the ingredients though ... looking at the tube here and the ingredients aren't listed. I only ever use tubing mascaras as I used to end up looking like Alice Cooper, even though I don't put mascara on my lower lashes.

AhBallix · 24/07/2020 13:07

Sorry, that doesn't even come close to answering your question😬

Yes, that does look like a tubing mascara, wax free, advertises as no panda eye and to remove with warm water tend to be dead giveaways (aside from the ingredients). Haven't tried this one myself, may give it a chance. Is it just a very basic mascara (tubing mascaras tend to be, I tend to just use them as a final coat to lock a non tuber with more performance in)?

And that works?

what sort of thing would you use underneath ?

thanks in advance @botemp

botemp · 24/07/2020 13:45

@sleepingpup something like Chanel Le Volume or similar, probably avoid things with fibres that lengthen. I find tubing mascaras are not very good for volume at all and layering a tubing mascara onto itself just gets really messy. Also, the colour on tubing mascaras can sometimes be lacking depth.

It works for me to have a tuber as a final coat but some people need to use a primer first, then standard mascara, then tubing, although you could also use the tuber as first and last coat as a sort of sandwich construction but it needs to be a pretty lightweight tubing formula (I've always liked eyeko skinny for this purpose).

sleepingpup · 24/07/2020 14:14

thankyou very helpful 🌸

MrDarcysMa · 24/07/2020 14:22

@AhBallix I just bought the snaps are to try it!
I went to Superdrug as it was the only one I knew was definitely tubing.
I have hooded eyes & oily skin so the 'waterproof' ones smudge on me then I can't get it off. All the benefit ones are terrible for me.

OP posts:
AhBallix · 24/07/2020 14:34

Hope you find it ok. It's been my favourite of all the ones I've tried - in saying that, I haven't spent more than a tenner on any mascaraGrin

MikeUniformMike · 24/07/2020 14:45

I have the Maybelline Snapscara but it smudges on me, but it gives me big eyelashes and normally they are short and fair.

The No7 stay Perfect stays put but results not as big.

Waterproof mascara tends to flake on me, and usually budget brands are just as good as £££ brands.

BanjoStarz · 25/07/2020 00:21

I know it’s too late but the wonder lash in the silver tube/box from Primark is amazing.

It doesn’t describe itself as a tubing mascara but it does not budge - and I can have the gold number 7 half way down my face by lunch time my eyelids are so oily.

It’s my favourite mascara, has length volume and doesn’t move and at £3 I buy a few every so often so I’m never without it!

That's very odd, as the no7 tubing one does not break down with oils. When you say it smudges, can you describe what it looks like ? Tubing mascaras can only usually sort of flake off or some off in blobs when soaked in warm water.
OP posts:
MrDarcysMa · 25/07/2020 10:30

@AhBallix so I slept in the snapscara last night to see if it is smudge proof and other than a couple of flakes it's not smudged at all and stayed put all night!

OP posts:
AhBallix · 25/07/2020 10:42

BrilliantSmile

I have also used a Revlon one. I can't remember the name, but it has a turquoise lid. It's very good for staying put, but doesn't give much length. My eyelashes are reasonably thick, but really stubby! I think you have to compromise a bit with tubing mascaras because they aren't as dramatic as other ones, but my priority is not to scare passing strangers with my zombie eyes.

hilariousnamehere · 25/07/2020 10:45

Ooh I'm a no7 stay perfect fan as it's the only one I've ever found which doesn't slide down my face in minutes 😂 now I have a list of others to try, thanks ladies!

MrDarcysMa · 25/07/2020 13:12

@hilariousnamehere yes if you're on a budget try NXY doll eye and snapscara- if you can splash out then Elizabeth Arden double wear zero smudge is great.

No7 is great and neat but isn't thickening enough for me !
