Dry and damaged hair - how to fix it

CaitJane · 23/07/2020 15:53

I am in my 20s and I didnt dye my hair for 10 years, I had lovely dark, thick brown hair just past my boobs.
I started bleaching it blonde last January and ever since I have been back and forth between bleaching and dying it brown.

I have now ofcourse ruined my hair. I've had to cut it to my shoulders and at first it looked okay but now it just looks a mess.

It's back to brown but the ends feel burnt (like hard), it feels thin and I will try and explain this as best as I can but there's no softness to it whatsoever, like if i was bend the ends of my hair, they would stay in that bent position.

Advice???

Try Olaplex. It's for exactly this kind of problem: number 3 and number 6.

Recommended on another thread. Get yourself a jar of Aldi organic coconut oil for £1.70 warm it up, saturate your hair in it and leave in overnight then shampoo out next day. Works a treat on my naturally very dry, thick, coarse hair.

Full fat mayonnaise is supposed to be good too 😊

Tigi Bedhead is great for this, I use the Elasticate shampoo and conditioner and it made a huge difference to my damaged hair. I sometimes use an oil as well to give the lengths an extra bit of moisture.

If you can, try to avoid using heat on it. If you absolutely must, go with a lower temperature for a while.

Leave-In conditioner after every wash and decent hair masque once a week, as little heat as possible and it’ll feel softer. Keep up the regular trims.

You've had too many different products recommend already and here I am throwing another one onto the mix!

Philip Kingsley Elastizer

It's magic stuff.
