Any advice for natural looking foundation for red skin. I am so out of the habit of wearing makeup but on lots of teams meetings and sick of seeing my big red face. Everyone else looks so pale in comparison and ask if I’ve been out in the sun, which I just say yes to, even if not. Help please !!!!

Hi OP. I can't help with a specific foundation but have you thought about targeting that with skincare-the Ordinary is a great budget range and you can email them for specific recommendations. Other than that, I'd suggest a good primer under foundation eg. smashbox. Then maybe a CC cream/tinted moisturizer as they are usually more natural looking. You could try IT Cosmetics CC Cream/ Clinique Moisture Surge/Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser.

Clarins do a liquid concealer in a little tube. It's not cheap at £22, but a little goes a long way and it lasts ages. I use it on my red cheeks over foundation or CC cream and it does the job. Pat it on with your middle finger tip.

I use Clinique anti blemish BB cream to help cover my rosacea. Its a light coverage which just seems to help neutralise the red for me. It's not cheap but the bottle i have i've been using 3-4 times a week (ie on work days) since January and it's still half full.

im the same i look like Rudolph. I use the stila (available from m&s) one step correct primer and its fab for the price. You only need a small amount

I have quite a red complexion and massively recommend Rosalique 3 in 1 anti redness miracle formula. You can use it as a primer under foundation but I find it actually gives good enough coverage on its own and I don't need foundation on top. It has SPF50 too so good everyday wear. It's been a bit of a game changer for me. Check it out.

You need GREEN to neutralise redness and make it more skin toned. I have a little concealer tube which is green for this very purpose. It was only a few £'s from boots or superdrug. That might be an option if there are a few red patches you want to hide. I can see that clinique do a redness foundation, but never tried it.

I have red cheeks and find a BB cream works well, I like Garnier best and its not too spendy.

I tried a green primer but it does bugger all.

Immigrantsong · 21/07/2020 20:35

You need green primer or colour corrective and a good heavy coverage foundation.

Ones I like: Estee Lauder double wear, doll 10 hydrolux from qvc, shiseido mineral foundation in blue compact.

GhostCurry · 21/07/2020 20:36

I actually disagree with the green advice - when it works, it tends to cancel out the red entirely and makes the skin look ashen.

Personally I go with a yellow-toned foundation, but more than that OP, you should look to reduce the redness through skincare. Vitamin C (start gently, they can make redness worse) and niacinamide can help.

ghislaine · 21/07/2020 20:38

I use Dr Jart Cicapair cream. It goes on green and then blends to an approximation if your skin colour, ie beigeish.

BrandNewShinyThings · 21/07/2020 20:54

Estee Lauder double wear maximum cover camouflage makeup. No need for green underneath, it always makes me look sickly. I've been using it for years to cover my red complexion.

God no - you don't need heavy coverage or green to conceal the redness. I usually use Boots Hydraluminous foundation and Clarins concealer. Just a light amount of both. GhostCurry is right about yellow toned products working well.

All of this. Nars is good for light consistency yellow toned foundations that offer great coverage.

Check that you don’t have an underlying skin condition. I have rosacea which makes my cheeks very red. I’ve been using Soolantra for the last 2 weeks it is making a real difference to the redness.

hilbil21 · 21/07/2020 22:23

@wowfudge is 100% spot on. I've tried practically everything in existence Grin and without a doubt the best is the clarins concealer Smile

Deathraystare · 22/07/2020 14:35

Deffo go with IT cosmetics cc cream. The lady who comes on to QVC from IT cosmetics has quite red rosacea as does one or two of the models. It covers up very well. I myself have some red areas and it covers very well.
