Heard a lot of positive comments about the Kate Somerville range, but it's unfortunately not in my price range. does anyone use something similar (but not as expensive) they would recommend? thinking of cleanser, serums, moisturiser.... thank you

The ordinary is very popular and affordable. Their Cleanser is a decent one.

In terms of moisturiser the Hada Labo one from superdrug is great! It's really thin texture but still hydrating.

I've heard the superdrug simply hydrating serum is good and it's so cheap!

If you want more expensive the Jordan Samuel Cleanser range is beautiful. I also like la roche Posay Vitamin C serum.

Thank you so much, will look into this!

any other suggestions?

Medik8 is good for Retinol (anti aging!)

Pixi tonic (available in m&s) is great for exfoliater tone.

Beauty pie can be good if you are an enthusiast it's a subscription style service - the products are usually really good and a wide selection.

For Cleanser a milk can be nice - nadine Baggott does good recommendations of these I believe.

Thanks will have a look.

Have tried the Pixi tonic, is it meant to sting?

I really like the super drug vitamin e range, and use this as well as the pricier la roche posay toleriane range (which is great for sensitive skin).
Specifically I like the vit e range hot cloth cleanser and hydrating serum, and the LRP moisturiser.

I have normal to dry/dehydrated sensitive skin that’s prone to break outs, especially if I use too many products.

I use a few products which haven’t caused me any bother, my skin is clear and hydrated although it could be doing with some more glow! However I just add glowy makeup as I’ve had too many bad experiences with adding in skincare

Cleansers - CeraVe hydrating cleanser, The Ordinary squalane cleanser, The Body Shop camomile cleansing butter

Serums - The Ordinary buffet (am), The Ordinary niacinamide (pm)

Moisturisers - The Ordinary natural moisturising factors (am), Embryollise lait creme concentre (pm)

I use masks a few times a week, mainly hydrating or brightening masks. I have a mini set from Fresh that I really like

I've got rosacea and sensitive, combination skin too and found the Pixi Tonic very stingy - had to pass it on to my mum!

Weirdly I find Olay Complete moisturiser is the best for my skin (lots of trial and error!) Avene and La Roche Posay toleraine cleansers are both excellent. I always have a can of Avene thermal spring water to hand as it's so soothing if my skin does flare up!

I have combination skin and get a lot of blackheads on my nose, Paula's Choice BHA and The Ordinary Niacinamide help with this

Paula's Choice BHA exfoliant is fab. I pay £10 for the travel size and it lasts a good few months

My skin is dry/dehydrated but acne prone. I find that using lots of products brings me out in spots.

I have been using The Ordinary and my skin is so much better for it, as I think it's the 'extras' that are added to products. The only caution I would say with using The Ordinary is that you may overload your skin, so don't use all of the extras every day.

No it shouldn't be painful. I would leave a few days before trying again.

What's your routine now?

CoffeePleb · 21/07/2020 22:58

The Body Shop aloe vera day cream. It's just a nice, simple hydrating moisturiser.

I've had a flare up so just using aveeno at night, and ultrasun during the day. Will look at the suggestions, thanks, everyone.

Bioderma Sensibio Micellar water for make up removal and cleansing was a life changer for my sensitive combo skin. I also like La roche posay effaclar foaming wash in the shower and their Effaclar Duo face cream is excellent if you get break outs. Also the timeless vit c serum is very nice in evenings.

Sorry to resurrect this thread - just saw it as I was searching for skincare tips for sensitive skin!

I’m wondering if anyone has any suggestions on which AHAs/BHAs to use on sensitive skin.

I currently use Indeed labs exfoliator, which I really like. I keep on hearing about AHAs and BHAs though from people like Caroline Hirons, so would like to try them out, but there doesn’t seem to be any guidance on what AHAs and BHAs to use if you’ve got reactive/sensitive skin. (I used Pixi glow tonic, also mentioned by another poster here, but it stung so much I had to stop using it).

Thanks!
