Getting a very short haircut??

I have a hair appointment tomorrow and every time I go I consider just chopping it all off and having a pixie cut or a very short choppy bob sort of thing, but never have the nerve! I have frizzy wavy hair that tbh looks shit long unless straightened to make it sleek. I also have a fairly severe widows peak hairline (my hairline looks like the bloody McDonald's golden arches!).
Do short hairstyles work on wavy hair in a way that's fairly low maintenance? I don't want to have to do lots of styling everyday. Would I have to go very short to make that work? And what sort of front/fringe etc works for a widows peak?

I really dont think you could get a fringe to work very well with a widows peak. Frizzy, wavy hair can look good short but theres no getting away from the fact you will need to style it, even if that means a bit of mousse.

I don't mind not having a fringe, was just wondering what would work best.

And I don't mind a bit of styling, it's more every day straightening I'd like to avoid

I have very wavy hair. Went from waist length to a pixie cut and love it! I can just comb it through and leave it to dry naturally, our if I fancy a sleeker look user my straighteners on it.

I took in a load of pictures that I really liked and showed my hair dresser and she told me which ones would suit me best and why. My hairdresser specializes in curly and wavy hair, it took me ages to find her, but is absolutely worth her weight in gold. She cuts my hair differently to every other hairdresser I have ever had and even though my hair has grown a lot, it always retains shape and looks good. It is worth looking around for someone who can cut thick, wavy / curly hair.

I think you should go for it. Pixies and crops look great on wavy hair as the waves add a little volume. Have you tried Pinterest? It's teeming with great examples of wavy pixie cuts.

You might find a lot of the frizz goes once it's shorter and you have a cut that compliments its texture. When mine was a lot shorter I'd use my straighteners to define wayward waves and curls, literally took about a minute to go round my whole head adding a bit of direction and definition here and there.

My daughter gave herself a pixie cut during lockdown, she's never had it short so it's a bit unusual on her but it really suits her. If the worst happens it will always grow out.

If the worst happens it will always grow out.

That’s true, I suppose this half-lockdown/wfh situation is the perfect time to try it out!

How did it go???? Are you happy?

Loveinatimeofcovid · 17/07/2020 15:12

Is all of your hair frizzy though? Or just the bits lower down?

I slightly bottled it.. I've gone for shoulder skimming length so still fairly short but maybe next time I'll go shorter!
