Cosmetic surgery; yes or no?

I have 3 children and I love them dearly but at nearly 40 I'm certainly not wanting anymore.
I've been saving and now have enough to try and get my body back to a shape I'm happy with.
Has anyone else had a 'mummy makeover'?

I'm wanting to have a tummy tuck and a breast lift and hoping to have it before Xmas so I'm fully recovered for summer next year.
I'm happy with my weight and I work out so consider myself physically fit but I have absolutely zero confidence with how my body looks. It's the usual mum tummy that no matter how much I work out, it's not going anywhere (my eldest is 20 and it's always been a saggy flump which sits on my legs when I sit down). I think the breasts speak for themselves after breastfeeding 3.

Can anyone give any advice as I'm determined to finally do this (found a surgeon and private clinic), but I'm really nervous at the same time Sad

I know of a woman who had a tuck after 4 kids, apparently she’s got a completely flat stomach.

Is the clinic in the UK? I wouldn’t go abroad for surgery.

I'm pro surgery.I had my boobs done for the second time in January as post pregnancy they were ruined tbh.Check and double check the surgeons and their qualifications.Being a member of BAAPS is something to look out for The British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons

My DiL had a tummy tuck after three births and was delighted with it. My hairdresser had a breast lift and was eventually delighted with the results but was surprised at the amount of pain she was after the operation. Personally I don’t understand why anyone would want to have surgery unless it was absolutely necessary.

I had a full abdominoplasty after my twins (babies 3 and 4) and I don't regret it at all. 12 years later and my tummy is still flat. I mainly had it done to repair my tummy muscles that were very separated causing problems with my hips. I was around 9st when I had it done so no extra weight but my waist measurement was equivalent to a size 16. My tummy was numb for a long time afterwards although I'm not sure how much of that was from carrying big twins. It's a major operation so make sure you plan accordingly with regards to your activity levels afterwards.

Definitely go ahead as soon as you can. I’m so happy with my results.
I had my old implants removed, new ones inserted and uplift, lipo on tummy and flanks.
Wish had done it years ago.
As well as the physical change, the mental change is amazing. I’m wearing things I haven’t worn in years.
Only thing I would say is I found the first ten days or so of recovery pretty painful in tummy area. Breasts very little pain.

Just be aware OP that if you have breast implants it is not a one off procedure. You will need to have them replaced every 10 years or so. Bearing in mind that this could mean 3-4 more breast operations and ultimately some sort of procedure when you are old to deal with not wanting implants and having excess skin. Not necessarily all bad news but something you need to be made aware of. A lift without implants is a one off as is a tummy tuck.

Down under it’s called the ‘mummy package’ - tummy tuck, liposuction and boob job. It’s popular in some circles, and often as part of a trip to Thailand (apparently their surgeons are good!). I know of about 12 friends and family who’ve done it.. only one has said they regretted it, everyone else has been pleased. Do your research, lots of research!

It’s on my list, I’m just behind on the weight loss

NavyBerry · 17/07/2020 23:27

Go for it! It is a bit scary but you probably won't regret. I think it is good if it is combined with a healthy lifestyle and physical activity to keep you fit.

I'm all for it. I'm 37 and will have it done at 39. I need a few more years to proof to myslef I can keep myself in shape and get in even better shape. So as not to waste the surgery. I will also not get it all done at one time which many do. As I've had recent surgery that took a lot of getting over and it wasn't as invasive as the mummy makeover. I'll possible get a breast lift done next year. And the tummy tuck the year after. As not only have I had three kids I've yo-yo dieted from a size 22 to a 14 over the years and ilmy tummy is just a large Hanging Pouch that gets infections now and again no matter how much I wash it. And it really effects my self confidence and labido and thus my marriage. Not that my husband cares at all but I do.

Sorry for the late reply and thank you all so much for giving your honest opinions.
I have found a surgeon who will perform at a local private hospital. I have an appointment with him in 2 weeks time as I'm hoping to be booked in for the op sept/Oct time. He has very highly regarded recommendations and I've been looking at all his reviews, work etc.
He actually specialises in reconstruction after a breast mastectomy and does regular talks for surgeons on scar limitation so fingers crossed he can put me at ease about having all the surgeries together.
I'm dreading the cost but I'm looking at it as a once in a lifetime cost Hmm

I will definitely get a tummy tuck after I lose this excess 3 stone. I have great boobs and hips and want a nice waistline to give me more confidence.

I will use the same surgeon that did my brilliant inverted nipple correction a few years ago. Can't wait tbh!!
