mine are;
water - drink more than you think
spf - even in winter, daily
do not pull at your eyes when taking off your eye make up

find good quality shoes, bags etc as theyll last a lot longer and usually look better

I’ve been doing sunblock since 22 but I wish I’d known about retinol/tretonoin & topical vit c powder.

birkenstocks4ever · 16/07/2020 16:51

You don't prevent spots by using surgical spirit like it's a toner 🙈 Sorry 14 year old me and thanks nan for telling me that's what I needed to do!

ThatsHowWeRowl · 16/07/2020 16:52

SPF on your face every day.

Jennygentle · 16/07/2020 16:56

That oily, spot-prone skin responds better to very gentle treatment, not harsh things like bloody Clearasil.
Sulphates and silicones should be avoided in hair care.
Perms are appalling and destroy hair.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 16/07/2020 16:58

Don’t use sun beds
Threading is a must- tint your eyebrows!

Craftycorvid · 16/07/2020 16:59

The combined pill means extra sunblock (even in winter) is necessary to avoid hyper-pigmentation.

No. You don’t always ‘grow out of’ acne. I was almost 30 before mine finally buggered off. Very few scars fortunately, but the unnecessary impact of bad skin on my self-confidence when young.....

The weight gain is probably hormonal given the dieting and exercise you do. Get thee to an ObGyn.

MoltonSilver · 16/07/2020 17:25

Sunblock, sunblock and more sunblock.
Back in the 80's we used to put baby oil on our skin and literally fry.

Sidewinder30 · 16/07/2020 17:35

Sunblock and hats; sunblock all year, hats that provide proper shade during warmer months. Rash vests for swimming out of doors between roughly 10 and 4 (depending where you are in the world and what month it is).

Fluffycloudland77 · 16/07/2020 18:41

UV damages the collagen in lips so you need lip salve with f30.

Only found that out last year

Muminabun · 16/07/2020 20:42

Do not over exfoliate and scrub your face until the skin falls off. Do not smoke. Appreciate being young and gorgeous and looking great in a bin bag.

OhTheRoses · 16/07/2020 20:47

Look after your hands and put sun cream on them as well as hand cream. I am a gardener. I am 60 and have good genes and bone structure (bit vain so always have worn foundation, light powder, blusher, mascara and lippy so it's had a bit of protection. But OMG my hands - lots of sun damage and a bit wrinkly.

PatriciaBateman · 16/07/2020 21:06

Keep those nose pores clean! Especially in your teens and twenties (when you still feel age-invinvible).
Nearly a year of hardcore skin remedial work (including retinol), and I'm starting to realise some stretching just can't be undone. It's a new baseline now. Sad

bronzedgodesswannabe · 16/07/2020 21:32

I wish my mum hadn't let me use her 'at home' sun bed when I was a teenager 😭

And I wish she hadn't encouraged me to put oil on and sunbathe

And I wish I had been told to wear spf
Only started this year and I'm 29 😢

That baby wipes do not suffice as a good skin care routine

I will make sure my kids wear spf and look after their skin that's for sure

DollyMixtureLulus · 16/07/2020 21:34

Wash your face
Drink water
Wear spf

Mnhealth202020 · 16/07/2020 21:40

I’m still in my youth but WEAR SUNSCREEN

I think I’m the only one in my circle who uses facial spf daily

sapphire54925 · 16/07/2020 21:41

Why do ppl wear sun cream on your face all year round? What does it do? And what factor is best? I currently just wash and apply oil of Olay face cream. So if I used sun cream would that go on before my oil of Olay or after or would I use one or the other

doadeer · 16/07/2020 21:46

I wear suncream all year round. It's the last step before makeup.

Use a good Cleanser, face wipes are not the one!

Enjoy your body... It won't look that way after a pregnancy from hell 😢

Mnhealth202020 · 16/07/2020 21:49

@sapphire54925 it’s an anti ageing measure as it protects your face from the long term effects of sun exposure. I use spf 50 (Kiehl’s). You apply over moisturiser (and before makeup) or you can just use the sunscreen as your moisturiser, depends on your skin

Fluffycloudland77 · 16/07/2020 21:51

Sunblock over moisturiser. UVB rays burn and make you produce vit d. They are short though, they don’t penetrate glass, Oct to March they don’t reach the UK as the earth tilts on its axis.

UVA are more damaging to dna in skin and cause 75% of ageing. They penetrate glass but you can buy window film to stop that.

If you wear sunblock F30 or above every day it prevents a lot of ageing.

You need to live reasonably healthily too, if you drink, smoke, take amphetamine drugs, live on junk food it will have a detrimental effect on skin but UVA is the main culprit.

tiutinkerbell · 17/07/2020 11:53

SPF 50 on your face daily - even during winter!
