Eczema on face

Hi - I have suffered with eczema on and off all my life. Had the behind the knee eczema as a child. In late teens / early twenties had awful eczema over face - mouth and eyes - and hands. Horribly itchy, cracked and bleeding. I tried everything - doctor, allergy testing, homeopathy. You will appreciate it was pretty miserable as I couldn't hide it. What finally fixed it was clarins gentle range.
In the last 20 years I've had maybe 3 more flare ups and the clarins has always worked.

So now it is back again. Clarins have discontinued the gentle night cream and the day cream and rescue repair oil do t seem to be touching it without the night cream.

Anyone any ideas? In case it is vaguely relevant I am 48 my skin is otherwise (!) Really good. I use elemis pro collagen. I only have ever used non bio in laundry (and have washed everything on bed / all towels on hot washes). Haven't changed shampoo or anything else obvious.

Thanks in advance x

Try atopiclair link? My DD has terrible life long eczema and this works on her eyelids and other delicate places. It's non steroid. She does alternate if with hydrocortisone if she doesn't act fast enough on other parts of her body ( on the creases where her arms meet her body at the moment!). She does all the stuff I imagine you do like moisturise every single day at least twice all over. She's 21 and I no longer need to wet warp her but I did until a couple of years ago.

Annoying that they have discontinued the rescue repair oil. That was the only thing I could use when my skin was very reactive, calmed everything down.
Have you spoken to Clarins ? Are they bringing in a replacement product that might also work for you ?
Alternatives that worked for me - the Dr Hauschka range, and La Roche Posay’s Toleriane range for v sensitive skin.

Oh I think I misread your post due to the typo - is it just the night cream that they have discontinued? In which case my above recs still apply,( Dr Hauschka don’t make a night cream but they do have a month long course of ampules to calm skin. )

Brillenbar47 · 13/07/2020 11:49

You can still get the oil - it's the night cream that is discontinued.

Thank you for the atopiclair suggestion have ordered some - I hadn't heard of that before.

Sooverthrmill hope your dd's calms down - I think it is a miserable condition for a young adult to have to deal with can really impact on confidence

I have facial eczema and very sensitive skin and have recently started using the ordinary moisturiser. It has ceramide in it which really helps my skin, so far so good.
The other cream I really like of you want something heavier is a nuxe one.

I also take flax seed oil as I read somewhere it helps. I hope you find something that suits you as eczema is miserable.

My DS was prescribed Diprobase for severe eczema around his eyes and on his chin, it really helped. I think you can buy it over the counter. Its an emollient but not too greasy or thick.

Sooverthemill · 13/07/2020 13:02

Apologies for the expensive link, I was in a hurry! Thank you @Brillenbar47 she used to be bullied fir her eczema and her asthma when at school. Kids can be mean!

Brillenbar47 · 13/07/2020 13:45

I use diprobase as a face wash like a v v basic cleansing balm!!!) But don't find it great as a moisturizer. @soooverthehill your poor daughter I do really feel for her. When I was in my late teens, lesions of any kind (and my eczema was red raw) were associated with "full blown aids", plus I had a gp who shrugged his shoulders when hydrocautisone didn't work and said " it's just cosmetic". So not fun. But by the time I was 24 / 25 it had completely gone, and I also think that it had instilled in me really good skin care - so your dd can take some comfort that she is paying forward and will have no wrinkles as she approaches 50 😁 @FieryChilli thank you I will look at nice too I like their products x

I’ve also had it on and off all my life and started getting it on my face around perimenopause, especially on my eyelids.

I’ve tried everything and what works is Lansinoh. I know it’s not for everyone but as long as you’re not allergic (and not a vegan) it might be worth a try.
