stylish knee length wind and waterproof coat

I need a new waterproof and windproof coat for hanging around watching sports outside and for dog walking. Budget of up to £120. I want to last and look good. I'm petite also so it is a struggle often to fine clothes suitable for me. Has anyone got any recommendations? Thanks.

I quite like Seasalt coats as they have lots that are waterproof, wind proof and look good without breaking the bank.

People often recommend Didriksons coats but I think they're above your budget.

AnotherEmma · 12/07/2020 20:35

Oh maybe not actually, must have been a different brand I was thinking of!

winterisstillcoming · 12/07/2020 20:38

I have a lovely oversized one by kin from John Lewis.

Doje · 12/07/2020 21:08

Check out Blacks for Didriksons on sale. I waited and kept a look out for an additional 10% discount too. You might get lucky!

Another vote for Seasalt coats. I have a Janelle - still looks good after several years, and is warm and waterproof. Around £150 - well worth it.
The Plant Hunter coat is similar. Might be worth contacting them to see if they have any offers coming up - their customer service department is very helpful.

Thanks everyone. I've had a good look, I'm after something really warm as I'm totally mesh. Are the Dikricksons really warm?

What season(s) is this for?

For winter, standing still watching sports for ages requires a serious duvet coat IME!

RandomMess · 12/07/2020 22:51

I got a landsend petite one it's like wearing a duvet.

However the warmest thing ever was the sports onsie things that DDs school rugby team once let me borrow, was amazing!! No idea what they are called and not stylish but so so so so warm...

JamMakingWannaBe · 12/07/2020 23:04

I am 5'7 and I have a North Face arctic parker that is not quite knee length on me. As recommended by PP look at Didrikson.

As you are buying out of season you might get a good deal somewhere.

I'm thinking of this one?

That one says water repellent which isn’t waterproof
I agree with posters who said seasalt, last years colours are often on eBay

nanbread · 13/07/2020 04:18

Not sure it counts as stylish but I had a Craghoppers one like this and it really did the job... Eventually the zip bust but that was after quite a few years of heavy use and it being a bit too small

However, for more flexibility, you could combine a coat like this www.samsoe.com/en/woman/clothing/jackets-and-coats/raincoats/stala-jacket-7357/F0000535510344106.html?gclid=Cj0KCQjw6ar4BRDnARIsAITGzlA1IqHGSYxRG20gHPJT2RgIs-9MGuFNGbCdHBqkJmt-F3qAwz9jv90aAh5ZEALw_wcB

With an insulating layer like this www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/women/outerwear/down-coats-jackets-vests?quickView=419780

Dozer · 13/07/2020 07:32

Yes, ads need to explicitly say waterproof and wind repellant.

UltimateWednesday · 13/07/2020 07:34

My Sea Salt coat has quite literally changed my life. I'm not sure you could really call it stylish but as a waterproof, windproof coat that really does it's job, it's better looking than most.

GrumpyHoonMain · 13/07/2020 07:36

Superdry and Joules have really stylish coats at the moment.

UltimateWednesday · 13/07/2020 07:37

You'll have to pay a lot more than the one you blinked to for an insulated coat that's properly waterproof, even then they don't stay waterproof forever.

If you want down for the warmth the only real option is to buy an insulated midlayer/jacket and a waterproof coat to go over it, which does give more flexibility for the seasons.

BakewellGin1 · 13/07/2020 07:37

After recommendations on here ive just had a lovely Lands End coat delivered. Like you I needed water and windproof

BikeRunSki · 13/07/2020 07:46

The holy trinity of warm, waterproof and wind proof, does not come cheap. This Patagonia has them all though.

Gardenermumtobe · 13/07/2020 07:51

I'd recommend Didriksons, I work as a gardener so out in the rain and wind all day and they have kept me dry. I have a thin one for summer and thick one for winter Grin

TheFallenMadonna · 13/07/2020 08:00

The Didiksons that the OP linked to is waterproof (it says so on the link) and is an excellent price.

OhSweetNuthin · 13/07/2020 08:06

Lands End Squall, really warm, waterproof, indestructible and makes my waist look tiny 😁

When it's really not!

winterisstillcoming · 13/07/2020 08:54

I have a similar one to that from
North face for football practice. I'm petite and size 10-12. Kids 16year fits perfectly and really well priced in the sale.
